WMExperts is reporting that the Samsung i907 has passed FCC testing. Samsung models ending in a 7 usually are headed to AT&T. While passing the FCC hurdles does not necessarily mean a carrier release as the device can be canned at any point, it does show some promise given that the BlackJack II has now been on the market for some time and probably needs a refresh.
Not much is known as far as specs or details. However, there are speculations across the internet that AT&T will adopt a North American-specific model of the i780/788. The phone features a square 320 X 320 touchscreen display similar to the Palm Treo 800w currently just released on Sprint.
Also of note, unlike Palm, Samsung’s iteration will come with a flush screen and probably not as many enhancements as the well-lauded Palm enhancements. Instead, Samsung will pobably add its own “touch interface” to make the device more finger-friendly rather than adding solid user applications in the case of the Treo 800w to make it a compelling business no-frills device.
