While Android is gaining momentum, Samsung is still committed to Windows Mobile. Like its Korean rival, LG, which has committed to 13 new Windows Mobile handsets by the end of 2010, Samsung’s already got 5 phones for 6.5. First up is the Omnia Pro B7330 has now gone official, which is essentially a Jack for Europe with a 320 X 320 screen, a first for a non-touch Windows Mobile phone.
According to Engadget Mobile:
The bigger news might be that the i8000, B7320, B7300, B7330, and B7610 — every current Omnia model — will be packaged with Windows Mobile 6.5 going forward, while updates will be offered to Omnia IIs, B7610s, and B7320s currently in the field running 6.1. The B7330 launches on October alongside the previously-announced Omnia Lite B7300; Samsung’s being a little more coy about dates for the upgrades, but we’re hoping owners aren’t waiting too long.
The Omnia i8000 is otherwise known as the Omnia II and carries an OLED display. The B7320 is another version of the B7330 mentioned above, but with a lower resolution 240 X 320 screen. The B7610 is actually the Omnia Pro with a sliding WERTY keyboard and the Omnia Lite is the less-expensive B7300. Confused yet? Hopefully we’ll get official release dates soon from Samsung for the 6.5 upgrades.
The B7330 is actually pictured below, and will be known as the Omnia Pro B7330.
