Upping the ante on mobile communications chipset, Qualcomm, whose processors are used in many HTC devices including the current Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, has agreed to purchase multimedia and graphics assets from AMD. According to MobileBurn, “the acquisition enhances Qualcomm’s multimedia capabilities, allowing Qualcomm to strengthen its leadership position in delivering more advanced products that redefine next-generation mobile user experiences.”

However, with the 2009 HTC lineup, it is rumored that those devices may use Nvidia’s Tegra chips that should give it awesome graphics and video capabilities, with the possibility of 1080p outputs.
