Even bad press is good press sometimes, and the rumors that Obama was using a Zune music player spurred reports of “Zunegate” on Philadelphia’s City Paper, giving the Zune player some heightened publicity the last few days. Obama’s camp has traditionally been seen with Apple products from a MacBook Air on the night the results to an iPhone. However, news that Obama uses the Zune was enough to send his PR machine into overtime, with press people issuing a statement to the Wall Street Journal that Obama was actually using the iPod according to the latest from Gizmodo.
While I am a fan of technology and find it interesting to see what the who’s who list has been using, but to issue an official PR statement for a product is kind of ridiculous.
On more positive news for Microsoft’s music player, CNET pitted the iPod Classic and the new Zune 120 GB music players against each other in the famed CNET Prize Fight. The winner: The Zune.
