Pharos Traveler 137: T-Mobile and AT&T 3G Support

The Pharos Traveler 137 is a GPS phone that supports AT&T's and T-Mobile's 3G frequencies, a dream come true for those who want to roam on either GSM networks when coverage on their home network is bad or down. The device sports quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band 1700/1900/2100 3G radios. Unfortunately, AT&T's stronger 850 MHz radio frequency for 3G isn't bundled, but the 1900 band should be sufficient. As such, this is more a T-Mobile device than an AT&T device.

The device will probably compete most against the HTC Diamond2 as its specs are similar. The Pharos Traveler has a 3.5-inch WVGA screen, 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, and comes with free gas price, movie information, weather, and traffic updates. Although it's a US-based device, with support for both major GSM carriers, the device does have a front-facing video camera. It will also come bundled with mapping software from GPS.

If you're interested, the device can be had for $600 outright or $350 with a T-Mobile contract. It ships with Windows Mobile 6.1, but will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5.
