Palm’s Linux Prototype Phone

Over the weekend, a white messaging phone with a clunky swiveling screen was circulating over the tech blogs, but it turns out that some detective work over at Treonauts shows that this could be Palm’s next generation prototype. Hopefully this phone will get slimmer and more refined, but the screen is expected to rotate to reveal a QWERTY keyboard, giving users a landscape screen and a standard, smaller QWERTY like today’s Centro. There also seems to be some sort of trackpad on the bottom with a right and left click.

Treonauts found that the keyboard resembled the Centro and deduced that its maker is Palm. This is still a rumor at this point, but if true, it could position Palm as a Sidekick contender with the younger messaging crowd.
