In what seems to be a “deal,” Nokia is unleashing the E63 candybar QWERTY smartphone for under $300–$279 to be exact. According to Gizmodo, the phone will be unlocked for American. Though the device lacks HSPA, according to PDAdb.net, the E63 still supports UMTS on AT&T’s network, which is still 3G, albeit a slower form. No GPS is included on board, but WiFi, Bluetooth, and FM radio with RDS is supported.

This really puts pressure on the higher end Windows Mobile Palm Treo Pro, which officially retails for $500-$550. Although the Treo Pro supports HSPA–which is faster than the UMTS of the E63–and has GPS, the E63 is a capable device for the entry-level smartphone user, consumer, or prosumer who doesn’t need the extras.

The E63 will come in his and her styling, with a blue or red plastic casing.
