The Iris Browser, made by Torch Mobile, has been the object of much discussion at MWC as it now leaves beta and enters a product release. The browser, which is based on the same Webkit rendering engine that Safari, Google Chrome, and Nokia browsers use, offers an excellent alternative for Windows Mobile browsing.

The new browser is reportedly fast, and according to msmobiles, “There are many surprises waiting inside, including support for the Flash Lite ActiveX control, big performance gains, reduced memory usage, preliminary RSS and SVG support, the highest Acid3 score of any shipping mobile browser, and HTC accelerometer support.”

Update: Brandon has just put together a video of Iris Browser, shown above. He doesn’t seem terribly impressed by it, citing speed issues in rendering the page, and a crude interface.
