MWC: Battle for GPS Continues on the iPhone

With various navigation big-wigs having released proof-of-concept GPS solutions from TomTom, iGo, and rumors of a TeleNav application coming, the latest to join this hopeful group is Sygic. There is no telling what Apple has in store for the iPhone in terms of navigation, although the iPhone SDK still prohibits turn-by-turn voice guided navigation. Hopefully, a reversal of said policy will take effect soon.

AppleInsider got a chance to play with the concept application at MWC and according to the blog, it looks great and works good in the limited conference room floor space. The only complaint is that the application took a bit long to load–namely 30 seconds.

Fortunately, as closed as Windows is, the OS powering Windows Phones is quite open and allows for various GPS software from various makers.
