Motorola Promises Android Multitouch

Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha has promised to make more multitouch available on Android. Hopefully, we’ll see this get implemented in the US as well, a geographic area where Google has neglected to bring multitouch. Currently, multitouch gestures such as pinch-and-zoom are not found on Android handsets designated “With Google” but may be found on customized builds of Android, like HTC made handsets with Sense UI. Additionally, in stock Android builds, only international builds of devices have pinch and zoom, as is the case that the US Motorola Droid lacks the feature but the international GSM Motorola Milestone has pinch-and-zoom gestures. Jha said: “I think you will see us deliver multitouch in the majority of our devices going forward. There’s a complex set of factors, not all of them technical.”

We’re wondering what the factors are that thus far have prevented Google from bringing these multitouch gestures if technical reasons aren’t it?
