Why this is even an issue is beyond anyone’s guess, but Verizon Wireless and Motorola had decided to call its widgets-based UI just that and decided to not go with the MOTO BLUR branding. This may be a marketing decision as Droid-Life points out that dialing *#*#4636#*#* into your Droid X handset reveals that it does sport some edition of “MOTO BLUR.”
However, in our own discussion with a Motorola representative, the Droid X may have services that are similar to those found on MOTO BLUR, but is not a BLUR device:
DROID X is not a MOTOBLUR device. However, we have been able to incorporate certain social aggregation features such as the ability to sync contacts from several social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, and stream updates in real time to optional widgets on the home screen. We did this by working with Verizon and their back-end services.
