When Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 Series, many were a bit puzzled by the long title. Smartphone users and bloggers often stumbled on the anchoring word because it just didn’t seem natural. Thankfully, Microsoft has decided to drop the “Series” in WP7S. So, moving forward, it will be known simply as Windows Phone 7.
It’s good to see the brand name shed the “Series” attachment, as it started to feel rather unnecessary. In my opinion, a short, simple name that easily rolls off users’ tongues is the way to go. It’s also better that they did this now, before any devices actually ship. Do you prefer WP7 or WP7S?
