Mexico’s Telcel carrier is getting the Palm Pre, which has swapped its CDMA chip for a GSM chip when the webOS device heads south of the border. This means that Palm’s US grey market will likely begin to emerge as eager GSM users on T-Mobile and AT&T may be purchasing the headsets to unlock them and using them in the US.
The Telcel Palm Pre will be available beginning November 27. Anyone importing?
In other webOS news, the Palm Pixi is scheduled to launch soon as a Sprint exclusive on the Sprint Now CDMA network. The device is a cousin of the Pre with a slate form factor, a slower processor and smaller screen, and excludes WiFi but will cost less than the Pre. The Pixi is expected to replace the discontinued Palm OS Centro when it launches soon, in time for the holiday shopping season.
