McCain Helped Create the BlackBerry!?!

Senator John McCain and US Presidential candidate from the Republican party, a man who doesn’t use much technology and claims he does not email nor use a computer, made a statement that he helped to create the BlackBerry. According to 3G Week, the Obama camp has released a statement acknowledging McCain’s claims: “If John McCain hadn’t said that ‘the fundamentals of our economy are strong’ on the day of one of our nation’s worst financial crises, the claim that he invented the BlackBerry would have been the most preposterous thing said all week.”

In reference to the Senator helping to create the BlackBerry, McCain’s camp said that: “Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce Committee. So you’re looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that’s what he did.”

This claim is similar to the claims that Al Gore had made relating the creation of the internet. While Gore did not make the direct claim that he invented nor created the internet, he did say that he helped through educational and technological policies. Gore was later mocked for his statement, which has since been misconstrued to Gore creating the internet.
