LG has some big aspirations for Windows Mobile. The Korean manufacturer is hoping to bring 13 new Windows Mobile smartphones to the market by the end of 2010 in various form factors. The first one, the LG GW550, is a Windows Mobile Standard device that lacks a touchscreen but comes in candybar QWERTY form factor that will compete against BlackBerries and has a styling that is reminiscent of the S60 Nokia E71. Other near-term devices include a full slate device, that will probably compete against Korean rival Samsung with the Omnia II, and a landscape QWERTY slider that will compete against the Omnia Pro and the HTC Touch Pro2.

Another device that will come to the US was leaked as part of AT&T smartphone lineup. That device is known as the LG HQ, also known as the LG GW600, and will feature a SuureType-like keyboard that combines two characters per key to form a QWERTY layout.

With LG’s ambitious plans, we hope quality won’t be sacrificed for quantity. The company’s touchscreen Incite for AT&T received complaints over build quality as an Omnia competitor here in the States.
