LG Ally Rumored to Land on Verizon Wireless May 20

The LG Ally will be another high-end smartphone to land on Verizon Wireless, though curiously this device, like the Motorola Devour before it, won’t be branded in the Droid Android family of phones.

The Droid lineup includes the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris and more recently the Droid Incredible by HTC. Verizon Wireless had licensed the Droid brand from Lucas Film for its Android smartphone lineup.

The LG Ally will feature a WVGA screen at 800 X 480 resolution touchscreen and a 600 MHz processor. LG will also bundle some of its widgets to help make Android more customizable and consumer-friendly and a backup assistant app will be provided by Verizon Wireless according to the latest leaks.

Like the Motorola Droid, the LG Ally will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode.

The Ally is expected for pre-orders on May 13th with availability on May 20th.
