Kindle E-Books Coming to Cell Phones

The Kindle is a great portable reading device, and Amazon, its maker, wants to extend that service to cell phones. This means that cell phone users will have access to the Kindle's large e-book collection. According to Gizmodo, it's unclear which devices will support the new Kindle services, or when those services will be launching, but Amazon is hoping to bring reading to more people.

Amazon also runs MobiPocket, an e-book store with a large collection and support for mobile devices, including Windows Mobile. The downside is that prices on that storefront aren't as competitive as those on the Kindle--the Kindle's library usually comes in at around $10 per title. Also, the Kindle feature more fiction and new releases, whereas Mobipocket has a lot more reference titles.

Also of note, Amazon has recently introduced the Kindle 2.
