While gadgetphiles are still awaiting for Microsoft and its partners to unleash Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Windows Phones to the public, a possible leak–which is considered rumors for now, or at least until further confirmed–on Brighthand highlights what may be Windows Mobile 7. While Windows Mobile 6.5 is said to be more evolutionary, making minor tweaks and some aesthetics improvements over the current Windows Mobile 6.1, Windows Mobile 7 should be a major upgrade for Microsoft.
Windows Mobile 7′s Today Screen features a carousel at the top, which begs users to touch, flick, scroll, and tap to navigate the device. From the feature, Microsoft seems to be bringing better search capability to the platform, a move that Apple had announced for its own iPhone 3.0 firmware update which is expected this summer. A magnifying glass on the Windows Mobile 7 Today screen on the upper right is indicative of some sort of universal search, and may act as a contact launcher, programs launcher, and email search utility.
Additional details isn’t available at this time, especially since Windows Mobile 6.5 is still looming. However, Windows Mobile 7 should be coming sometime in 2010.
