Intel To Bring Processing Power to Ultra Thin Notebooks

Now that the Intel Atom is out and gracing many netbooks, the firm has announced its intentions to bring to market a chip that fills the gap between the Atom and the low-voltage portable Core 2 Duo chips. The new chips are designed for ultra-slim laptops, such as the MacBook Air.

News of Intel’s intentions fall several days after AMD’s announcement for the Neo chip at CES, a processor that fills the exact same netbook-notebook gap that Intel’s chips are meant to target. According to Intel, the new chips will enable slim designs–less than an inch thick for notebooks–that won’t be as pricey as currently available options according to Gizmodo.
