HTC Sync Lets AT&T Aria Owners Sideload Apps

AT&T has taken a strict approach when it comes to sideloading of non-Android Market apps on Android smartphones, but it looks like HTC may free up Aria owners with its HTC Sync desktop client. With the HTC Sync client, users can download non-Android Market apps to their PCs and then use the client to install those apps onto their Android devices by syncing their phones with their PCs. Clever move on HTC’s part, but we’ll have to wait and see how AT&T responds to the actions of its manufacturing partner. It seems that HTC going rogue on AT&T means that customers will get more flexibility.
