Got Lost? Get Directions!

A new company called Dial Directions is offering direction services in six metropolitan areas including Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Miami, Philadelphia, and Los Vegas. Services had already existed in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Sacramento, San Diego, and Washingto, DC.

Users can call in on their cell phone to “DIRECTIONS,” which is (347) 328-4667 and tell the voice activated system their current location and their destination location. There is no downloads, no fees, no costs, and the system will text you back with turn-by-turn directions, although no voice-guided navigation is available here.

This looks to be a cool, novel concept that will be an alternative to web-based systems like Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search for those who don’t have a data plan. I personally haven’t tried the service here in Los Angeles yet, but will give it a go this weekend.
