Europe to Put a Cap on Roaming Charges

File under: News
By: Chuong Nguyen | Date: 25-Sep-08 | Comments

In a welcomed move for consumers, the European Union will propose a law to limit how much a mobile carrier can charge for roaming. According to Electronista, text messages will fall from US $0.42 to $0.16 and data charges will be limited to 1 Euro per megabyte of data. Additionally, users will also be able to set their own personal caps for data. If a user exceeds those caps while roaming, data will automatically be shut off and no outrageous bills will be encountered when the user returns home.
