Early Windows Marketplace Screenshot Reveals Amicable App Pricing

Worried that Windows Mobile would continue its current expensive software pricing scheme for the platform? Well, you can lay some of those worries to rest as early screenshots of the Marketplace for developers reveal some favorable pricing schemes.

Lower priced applications became popular in the iPhone iTunes App Store when developers priced most applications under $10, with most going for $2 to $7 each. On the other hand, Windows Mobile and other smartphone platforms have traditionally been more expensive on the software pricing, with price points typically ranging between $15 and $30 for applications. Even now, even similar applications on Windows Mobile and the iPhone reveal pricing disparity with the applications on the former platform costing more than the latter.

According to The Boy Genius Report, the Windows Marketplace is now open to developer registration again, though there’s a bit of confusion there since BGR reports that registration has been in effect since the beginning of the month. At any rate, the published picture on BGR, if still accurate, could signal a changing trend in software pricing for developers on Microsoft’s platform.
