If you’ve thought about the Amazon Kindle, but are waiting, well you’re in for a treat. Amazon won’t be the sole e-book reader that will operate over a wireless cellular network. At CES, Verizon Wireless announced that a slew of e-book reading devices will be coming to its network. The carrier had promised to open up its network previously, and will make good on that promise by welcoming soon Kindle competition, according to Engadget.

When Amazon released the Kindle, it was a breakthrough device in that unlike previous e-book readers that came before it, the Kindle operated on Sprint’s network. However, users didn’t have to worry about connection or mobile data fee–all that was included in the price of the device. Users can download books on the go without the need of being near a hotspot, a WiFi terminal, or a computer.
