Dell Teases About Smartphone Launch, Will it be Windows Mobile?

It’s all but confirmed that Dell is working on a smartphone for some time now from hints that the company founder Michael Dell has dropped, but the latest comes from the firm’s Vice President of Consumer Devices Ron Garriques, who came from Motorola, that the firm is indeed working with the top three or four carriers to determine what their needs are.

It’s interesting that Dell is appeasing the carriers. How about taking the Apple route and trying to appease the end-users or Microsoft’s and Research in Motion’s approach and work with corporations–the actual people using these devices?

Dell is looking to launch said smartphone in Europe, Asia, and the US. Now, the only question is will Dell continue their relationship with Microsoft or defect to Google? The firm had been a licensee of Windows Mobile with its Axim line of non-phone PDAs. However, reports have been circulating around the net about Android being a possibility being that the OS is free.
