CTIA: Kempler & Strauss W Watch Phone Transforms Geeks Into Dick Tracy
File under: News
So I took a break from the Windows phone launch event in San Diego and CTIA coverage of Windows Mobile to check out one of the hottest, affordable toys on the show floor at CTIA--a watch phone called the W Watch Phone from Kempler and Strauss. The watch phone has GPS, Bluetooth, and a touchscreen. Sold unlocked this holiday season, the Dick Tracy gadget will let geeks aimlessly walk the streets and talk to their wrists for $199. Of course, the device also comes with a Bluetooth dongle that you can connect headphones to and talk that way so you don't look freakishly out of place.
The device is sold unlocked and will only support GSM. You probably can't do much net surfing anyhow on the small LCD touchscreen anyways, so 3G wouldn't be too appropriate. Cool factor? 10 of 10. Compared to comparable offerings by Samsung and LG, the Kempler & Strauss W Watch Phone is affordable, fun, and will make for a great stocking stuffer for this holiday season. Check out the video tour that we got below.
