Motorola is exiting the Windows Mobile business and will focus all its resources on Android in an effort to reduce costs and return to profitability according to the latest on Phone Scoop. It’s unclear whether the move was prompted by Motorola’s gamble that Android will be the next hot operating system or if the change is spurred by the free licensing offered by Google as licensees of Windows Mobile must pay a fee to Microsoft. Unfortunately, the switch to Android also means layoffs are on the way.
The happy “Hello Moto” chime will no longer be heard from Motorola on Windows Mobile.
