AT&T Mulls Data Price Cut, Are You Overpaying For Mobile Internet?

Ahead of the developer’s conference for Apple this summer, AT&T is mulling a $10 data price cut, bringing the iPhone data price back to where it was at $20 when the original aluminum shell first generation iPhone was launched several years prior. Current smartphone data rate is at $30, which goes for the iPhone 3G, smartphones such as Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry (BIS accounts not enterprise accounts) individual accounts.

When Apple had launched the iPhone 3G, AT&T had increase the price from $20 per month to $30 for unlimited data because the carrier said that 3G connections cost more money in hardware architecture and put greater strain on the wireless infrastructure.

While the rumor is for iPhone data, what about other smartphone users? Unlimited data on AT&T for non-smartphones run for $15 per month on the carrier’s MEdia Net plan.

For those who have a smartphone and haven’t purchased a data plan because they use WiFi, would you add an unlimited data plan with AT&T now?
