AT&T has announced plans that they would expand their 3G network to 80 new cities by the end of the year. The wireless giant will also build over 1,500 new towers and buildout HSUPA to increase uplink speeds.
The company has said that it is looking into a 4G network, although no set timeline has been given.
3G is the current technology that powers UMTS and HSDPA that the AT&T Tilt operates on under ideal conditions. In areas where no 3G is available or there is a weak 3G signal, 3G headsets will typically fall back onto EDGE standards, which is the standard that the iPhone utilizes.
