If you’re a developer with a great idea for an app–and we don’t mean iFart apps though those would still qualify as an entry–then you should consider entering the Mobile Apps Showdown, which will go on at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2010 in Las Vegas. If you’re not a developer, maybe you can team up with one and share ideas and collaborate on implementation.

The competition “will feature the top 10 apps in five categories (Education, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Productivity and IT), chosen by Robin Raskin and the editors and readers of NetShelter.net.”

The competition is open to developers of all mobile platforms, including Windows Mobile, iPhone, Android, webOS, and others. You can peruse the full rules and then make a decision if you want to enter.

Be warned that there is an entry fee to weed out non-serious competitors. You can read the full press announcement after the break.

Mobile Apps Showdown – Have you created the latest addiction since Tap Tap Revenge or an app that will give UrbanSpoon a spin for its money? The Mobile Apps Showdown will feature the top 10 mobile applications in five categories: Education, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Productivity and IT. The finalists will be selected by NetShelter.net readers and judged by editors from some of the top trafficked mobile sites. Last year’s judges included Mobile Burn, Slash Gear, Phone Scoop and others. All applicants will have their apps showcased and made available for download or purchase from the site. The top 40 apps will have the opportunity to demo live from the Mobile Apps Stage in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center at the 2010 CES and have that video appear on the Mobile Apps Showdown website. The top ten apps will be finalists in a live demo competition in front of a live and online CES audience, and a winner will be declared based on audience applause- o-meter and online vote. To enter, visit www.MobileAppsShowdown.com. There is a fee for each application submitted.
