Android Captures 4.7% Market Share in 2009

Android is growing fast by increasing a whopping 1074% compared to the year prior. According to a report by Canalys, the Google-made open source OS captured 4.7% of the smartphone market and was used on 7.7 million handsets made by partners such as Motorola, Samsung, HTC, LG, and others. In comparison, Symbian, the leading smartphone OS, captured 47.2% while Microsoft’s Windows Mobile had 8.8% of the market with 14.7 million handsets.
