While the Kindle experience has been ported to the iPhone as a free, downloadable application within the App Store, no such experience is found outside of Amazon’s proprietary ebook reader nor Apple’s iPhone. However, that will change soon, hopefully, as Amazon is looking for a Windows Mobile developer in a job post. The move can be seen as anticipation for a Kindle experience on Windows Mobile and on Windows Phone.
The iPhone Kindle experience is pretty good, save for the fact that the application does not feature the option to allow users to purchase books through the app. Instead, users are re-directed to an iPhone-optimized Amazon.com webpage where users can make purchases. After the purchase, users can log back into the Kindle application and download the ebook. Since the app was released, Apple has changed its policy to allow in-App purchases; hopefully this means that users can purchase digital content from within the Kindle iPhone application in the future. At this time, it is unclear whether the Windows Mobile Kindle experience will be limited to reading or if the proposed Windows Phone app will allow for purchases as well.
