LG has developed a chip that is now more suited for use in mobile device due to its small architecture. The square chip measures 13 mm and has generated download rates of 100 Mbps and download rates of 50 Mbps; on Windows Mobile the speeds are 60 Mbps and 20 Mbps.

According to Electronista, a 700 MB video file will download in less than a minute and up to four 1080p HD movies can stream at the same time. The technology in 4G will also provide less latency, which will be more suitable for two-way video calls and online gaming.

The chips will be available in phones sometime in 2010, which is in line with AT&T’s and Verizon’s intentions on launch their 4G LTE networks in North America. Other LTE carriers in North America include Bell, Telus, and Rogers.
