2 Terabytes in a Memory Card

Currently micro SDHC cards are at 16 GB, with a maximum theoretical capacity of 32 GB. However, a new standard, SDXC, which stands for eXtended Capacity, will bring that theoretical capacity to a blazing 2 terabytes! Now that's a lot of storage for videos, photos, files, and portfolios!

MobileBurn is reporting that the standard was announced at CES in Las Vegas. The standard for SDXC is based on SD technology, but provides up to 104 MB/sec with a maximum of 300 MB/sec for read/write speeds. Specifications will be announced in the first quarter of 2009.

2 TB sure makes a 16 GB iPhone seem obsolete.
