Wireless charging is awesome. This is an objective fact whose merit won't be disputed because 1) I'm just old enough to be impressed by technology that was totally far-fetched when I was young, and 2) I'm writing this piece at 10pm on a Friday night after a 4500-word review and the longest podcast in Pocketnow history, so I'll say what I want and you'll like it. But seriously. For all its missteps and quirky implementations and standards wars, wireless charging is one of the coolest things you can do on a smartphone without turning the screen on. All it takes is a few days of using it ...

Last week we showed you a very novel Qi wireless charger for you to keep your smartphone topped of while in your car, and we were quite impressed with it. Unlike most car chargers that attach to your dash or windshield, this one sits in your cup holder and cradles your phone while you drive down the road. Interesting and convenient! If you're more into carrying around a spare battery, like I do, you might be interested in the ZENS Qi Wireless Charger than other solutions that you have to plug in. Portable Batteries In the "good old days" of PDAs and smartphones we could carry around a ...

When an avalanche of reviews is rumbling its way down your mountain, it's rarely easy to assemble a podcast team – but as we frequently remind you, the Pocketnow Weekly has never missed a week, and we'll be damned if it'll do so now. So despite the forthcoming reviews of the Samsung Galaxy S 5, Gear Fit, Gear 2, Oppo Find 7a, Nokia X, and the just-completed reviews of the ZENS Qi line, BlackBerry 10.2.1, and the Verizon HTC One M8, we're banding together behind microphones in three separate cities on two continents to bring you the news and editorials of a very busy week in mobile. ...

Of all the places wireless charging can actually be useful, we can't think of a better place than in the car. Messing with wires in the car can be tricky and, of course, dangerous. The ability to drop your phone in a slot and have it charge sounds awesome, right? Fortunately, that's not fiction. It's possible, thanks to the ZENS Qi Wireless Car Charger. Simply plug the the cup-shaped charger's power adapter into the 12V socket in your car, drop the charger in the cup holder, and toss a Qi-enabled smartphone into the slot on the top. The device plays a subtle chirp, and your phone charges. ...

So you’re looking for a set of speakers a little beefier than what your smartphone’s packing out of the box. We've been down this road before, most notably with our unboxing of the monstrous JBL PowerUp dock that we bought to match our Nokia Lumia 920 back in 2012. But such big sound often requires big equipment: the PowerUp is a monster. And if you go for a smaller solution, you're often left dealing either with tangled-up cables or a speaker with a battery so small that it dies within a few hours. Truly, these are trying times for mobile audio (unless you own a phone with BoomSound, ...

Wireless charging, you either hate it or love it. Here at Pocketnow, it's about an even split. Either way, it's something more and more smartphones are shipping with. And if it's something you don't particularly care for, there's no one saying you have to use wireless charging if your phone has it – it's simply nice to have the option. Unfortunately for iPhone users, wireless charging simply isn't one of those things Apple seems to care too much about, along with NFC, expandable storage, removable batteries, etc. However, all hope is not lost. Some case manufacturers are determined to ...
