Yesterday, I made the stupid unconventional decision to compensate for a sedentary workweek by walking nine miles from my home northwest of Boston to Newton, Massachusetts. The resulting hunger, thirst, and mild exhaustion drove me into a delicatessen upon my return to civilization - but before I could walk in the door, something caught my eye: a black van, with the legend "Z10" painted in blue on the back door and the admonition "keep moving" spelled out in smaller letters on the sides. Now, not even moderate dehydration keeps me from satisfying my curiosity when it comes to street-level ...

At Pocketnow, we have a responsibility to try the new, the fresh, and the weird - and that latter swamp is exactly the one Managing Editor Anton D. Nagy waded into with his recent review of the ASUS Fonepad - the tablet with an earpiece. Or the phone with a tablet screen. Whatever you want to call it, we've covered it - and Tony has some thoughts about using a seven-inch smartphone in this edition of one of your favorite tech podcasts. After we clear the giant-phone convo, we've got more to say. Lots more. And, doubtless to the relief of thousands, very little of it involves Samsung's ...

Blackberry and HTC have a bit of a problem. Their problem is they are coming off of losing seasons and they're trying to get their fans back in the stands. Ok, yes I'm using a sports analogy here, bear with me. The problem is they're charging just as much for their seats as the third team in town – the one who has won the championship two years in a row. And they're both surprised when their beer sales are plummeting. In short, Blackberry and HTC pricing against Samsung and Apple is doomed to failure until they can reestablish their premium brands to go with their premium phones. A Tale ...

Was the BlackBerry 10 launch a success? Here we are, two and a half months since the Z10 first went up for sale in the UK, and there still isn't a hard answer. Last week, we heard some claims that users just weren't digging the Z10, and were returning the handset to retailers in record numbers. BlackBerry wasted no time striking back, calling that story straight-up false and insisting that returns were totally on-par with what any smartphone manufacturer should expect. Now we have another voice chiming-in, attempting to confirm BlackBerry's own take on the situation. Of course, BlackBerry ...

It's one of the worst things that can be reported about mobile hardware: too many customers are returning their purchases. Fanboys and haters will say what they will, but when people are actually buying your product, giving it a real chance, and still returning it, that's very much not good. We've talked about these sort of rumors in the past with products like the Surface RT, but today our target is BlackBerry and its new Z10, with the company refuting recent reports of excessive returns. After an analyst suggested that Z10s were being returned in unusually high numbers, the company ...

We've put the HTC One through its paces, comparing it against nearly every smartphone -or at least, nearly every flagship- in the modern landscape, but there was a straggler left behind: the tenacious BlackBerry Z10. Today, we set about to rectify that omission. Tune in to the video below to watch us compare HTC's newest -and almost certainly best- Android offering with the slab of black soft-touch that BlackBerry has bet the company on. We'll be comparing build quality, UI, test notes, the camera, and the all-important ecosystem in this showdown, though not necessarily in that order - and ...

The BlackBerry Z10 is not only the company's boldest move since the dawn of push email, but also one of the better devices of 2013. It would be one of the best if the platform was a little more mature, but still, we'd call this one of the best re-inventions to come to mobile in the last decade, at times when almost every other company that tried to do it is no longer existent. New leaked photos now show that aside from the leaked roadmap that we saw a couple of days ago, the existing BlackBerry Z10 is also getting more color options as well, or at least, it seems so. The reason why we're ...

Over the past few weeks, we've been learning all the details of how US carriers will be making the new BlackBerry Z10 available for sale. T-Mobile may have gotten a head-start with corporate sales, but for private individuals, your first opportunity to score a Z10 arrives today, as AT&T puts the BlackBerry 10 smartphone up for sale. We've known about this date since AT&T first started accepting pre-orders earlier this month, so if you just want to walk into a store and walk out with the first BlackBerry 10 handset, now's your chance to track down an AT&T retailer. On-contract, ...

The BlackBerry Z10 is definitely on the wish list of many all around. It's proven to be a good device in our review, and even though its ecosystem hasn't reached the level of its competitors, it's only a matter of time before they figure it out. We've heard when both AT&T and Verizon are getting the device, and now it's time for T-Mobile. Obviously we don't have a press release to validate this claim, but according to T-Mobile's Help Twitter account, it'll happen on Tuesday March 26th, which is less than a week from now. Now to make these news even better, remember that the Z10 is ...

BlackBerry launched the Z10 and Q10 back at its late January event, kicking-off the BlackBerry 10 platform and unveiling its new corporate name, leaving RIM behind. Since then, we've seen the Z10 go up for sale in Canada and nations overseas, as we awaited the smartphones eventual arrival in the States. We've finally started getting confirmation of just when the phone will be available from carriers, and to help drum-up some last-minute interest, BlackBerry has decided to throw itself a secondary launch event, this time celebrating the Z10's US arrival. The new event is in one week in New ...

BlackBerry fans in the US, are you ready to finally get your shot at the Z10? Last week we heard some new rumors about how the phone would launch on AT&T, as well as got confirmation of how T-Mobile would kick-off business sales. Now AT&T is following up with a confirmation, announcing the start of pre-sales and divulging just when the Z10 will finally reach customers' hands. Just as rumored, AT&T will first make the BlackBerry Z10 available on March 22. If you don't want to leave anything up to chance, pre-orders for the smartphone will begin tomorrow, March 12. BlackBerry 10 is just about to come to the US, with sales of the Z10 expected to kick off this month. When will you be able to get your hands on the phone? We've heard a couple dates for AT&T, looking at both March 15 and March 22, and through we saw March 27 on a leaked T-Mobile roadmap, we've learned that the carrier was interested in getting it out even sooner. While it's still not enough to give us the full picture, T-Mobile has since announced the start of Z10 sales, but with one important hitch. T-Mobile will start selling the Z10 next week, on March 11, to business customers. ...

Whether the new BlackBerry Z10 is selling well or not is, at the moment, anyone's guess, but there are a lot of rumors concerning the availability dates for US carriers, especially AT&T. We recently heard speculation hinting towards March 15 but, as usual, there's always a new rumor with conflicting information. Bloomberg has it on good authority that the day to mark in your calendars is March 22 if you're looking for the Canadian company's latest and greatest. The date is not yet confirmed and originates from "two people familiar with the plan" while AT&T's statement sheds no ...

This time last year, it felt like everyone had made peace with BlackBerry failing, and seeing BB10 still so very far away, we were ready for it to be too little, too late. As 2012 started winding down, though, some glimmers of hope appeared, and as we approached the BB10 launch, it actually seemed like BlackBerry might just have a shot. Now that the Z10 is here, we should finally be able to tell whether or not all those expectations were correct, except that no one seems to have a solid grasp on its sales performance. Some reports, like those from Pacific Crest, indicate that after an ...
