Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about LG's new strategy to compete with the Optimus G Pro against the Galaxy S 4, and yes HTC is in the same wagon. Then we move to some leaks suggesting that Verizon won't wait for the HTC One, and will launch it close to the rest of the carriers. Windows Phone 7.8 is up next as the new update rolled out today should fix all its bugs. We then talk about the US launch of the BlackBerry Z10 and which carriers get it first after their second event planned. We end today's show talking about Samsung's announcement of the Galaxy S 4 and what's cool and ...

BlackBerry launched the Z10 and Q10 back at its late January event, kicking-off the BlackBerry 10 platform and unveiling its new corporate name, leaving RIM behind. Since then, we've seen the Z10 go up for sale in Canada and nations overseas, as we awaited the smartphones eventual arrival in the States. We've finally started getting confirmation of just when the phone will be available from carriers, and to help drum-up some last-minute interest, BlackBerry has decided to throw itself a secondary launch event, this time celebrating the Z10's US arrival. The new event is in one week in New ...

BlackBerry fans in the US, are you ready to finally get your shot at the Z10? Last week we heard some new rumors about how the phone would launch on AT&T, as well as got confirmation of how T-Mobile would kick-off business sales. Now AT&T is following up with a confirmation, announcing the start of pre-sales and divulging just when the Z10 will finally reach customers' hands. Just as rumored, AT&T will first make the BlackBerry Z10 available on March 22. If you don't want to leave anything up to chance, pre-orders for the smartphone will begin tomorrow, March 12. Pricing is ...

BlackBerry 10 is just about to come to the US, with sales of the Z10 expected to kick off this month. When will you be able to get your hands on the phone? We've heard a couple dates for AT&T, looking at both March 15 and March 22, and through we saw March 27 on a leaked T-Mobile roadmap, we've learned that the carrier was interested in getting it out even sooner. While it's still not enough to give us the full picture, T-Mobile has since announced the start of Z10 sales, but with one important hitch. T-Mobile will start selling the Z10 next week, on March 11, to business customers. ...

Whether the new BlackBerry Z10 is selling well or not is, at the moment, anyone's guess, but there are a lot of rumors concerning the availability dates for US carriers, especially AT&T. We recently heard speculation hinting towards March 15 but, as usual, there's always a new rumor with conflicting information. Bloomberg has it on good authority that the day to mark in your calendars is March 22 if you're looking for the Canadian company's latest and greatest. The date is not yet confirmed and originates from "two people familiar with the plan" while AT&T's statement sheds no ...

This time last year, it felt like everyone had made peace with BlackBerry failing, and seeing BB10 still so very far away, we were ready for it to be too little, too late. As 2012 started winding down, though, some glimmers of hope appeared, and as we approached the BB10 launch, it actually seemed like BlackBerry might just have a shot. Now that the Z10 is here, we should finally be able to tell whether or not all those expectations were correct, except that no one seems to have a solid grasp on its sales performance. Some reports, like those from Pacific Crest, indicate that after an ...

The BlackBerry Z10 represents the company's come-back, a new chance at gaining at least a part of the already lost market share and, the phone, together with the new BlackBerry 10 platform, testify for the effort which materializes in a solid start. The phone is expected to land on US carriers this month and, according to recent chatter, AT&T might have it on its line-up as soon as March 15 (same date for big box retail locations too). T-Mobile customers are expected to be able to grab it on March 27 while Verizon subscribers might need to wait until next month to grab their white ...

It happened so slowly I didn't even know what ya'll were up to. Editorial after editorial, I lamented the ballooning size of the smartphone screen. I wasn't any sideline observer, either: I'd carried devices in sizes ranging from the Centro and Veer to the Droid DNA and Galaxy Note II. I knew the advantages of large screens; I just didn't think they overcame the absurd feeling of carrying a lunch tray in my pocket. But you jumbophone-buying masses got the better of me. Somewhere along the line, something started surreptitiously scratching away at my "no-superphone" stance. Probably it was ...

If you're lucky enough to live somewhere where the BlackBerry Z10 is already available, you're going to want to check your handset for update notifications today, upon BlackBerry announcing that the very first BB10 update is now available and going out OTA. While there's no one big feature or bugfix that highlights this release, there sure are a number of smaller tweaks and fixes. BlackBerry says that it's made 60-some tweaks to help increase device battery life, and performance should see a boost with third-party apps. The camera app should now offer better image quality in low-light ...

We're finally into March now, which means that the BlackBerry Z10 is closer than ever to getting a US release. We've already given you an in-depth review of the phone, as well as showed you how it compares to a top-tier Android, the Galaxy S III, and also a high-end Windows Phone model, the Lumia 920. Today we shift gears and put the Z10 head-to-head against cream of the iOS crop, the iPhone 5. We look at the construction of both these smartphones, the philosophies behind their designs, and connectivity options, before checking out things like how their display quality compares. In ...

It should hardly come as a surprise when a smartphone is available in another country before the US; by this point, we're all painfully aware of how paranoid US carriers are about the dreaded demon-possessed smartphone that's going to bring their networks to a halt, and the painfully slow certification processes they employ to vet models for operation. In that light, the waits that BlackBerry fans in the US face for the arrival of the Z10, and months later the Q10, don't even feel like news. But still, we had so much hope that BlackBerry might "pull an Apple" and see its new hardware make ...

BlackBerry fans in the US are itching for their chance to join the likes of the UK and Canada and finally get their hands on a brand new Z10 smartphone. So far, we've been hearing that March is as soon as any of the carriers will offer the device, and a leaked T-Mobile roadmap has suggested that we'd be looking more at the tail-end of March, with the Z10 scheduled to go up for sale on March 27. Now some new comments from a T-Mobile exec are making us reconsider that date, and from the sound of things the phone just might show up quite a bit earlier. Instead of March 27, T-Mobile's Frank ...

A newly-leaked T-Mobile roadmap is out, giving us a look at what's coming to the carrier in late March, and answering a few more questions left over from earlier leaks. Once again, we're looking at a March 27 date for the new BlackBerry handset, now confirmed as the Z10. The last time we checked out a T-Mobile roadmap, we saw this model identified by its codename Libson, attached to the very same date. That's in line with what we've heard from RIM about US launches, but it's still a bit of a lengthy wait for a phone that has so much riding on it. Next, we've got the LTE-capable version of ...

Yesterday's BlackBerry 10 announcement feels like the arrival of a major new player on the smartphone scene. Sure, BlackBerry's been around this whole time, but with how RIM let BlackBerry 7 really stagnate over the past year or so, it's been difficult to treat as a serious competitor. That all changes this week, though, and the availability of the first Z10 handsets in the UK will give smartphone shoppers a new option to consider. So, the question is: are you thinking about making the move to BlackBerry 10? Let's take a look at some of the positives. Just by virtue of being so different ...

A brand new OS like BlackBerry 10 can be a lot to take in. After our initial encounter with the Z10, we stepped away from the hustle and bustle of the big BB10 unveiling to sit down with the phone and really give the software and hardware a much more thorough examination. As you've probably heard by now, BB10 is all about gesture control, something that becomes painfully obvious when you're in an app and don't see any on-screen button to bring you back to the platform's home screen. Instead, a swipe up from the bottom of the screen triggers that transition, and that's a gesture you'll be ...

BlackBerry 10 is here, and with the first Z10 handsets going up for sale in the UK tomorrow, plenty of users will be soon be unboxing their brand new BB10 smartphones. We managed to get a little bit of a head start on that action, and can now show you just what you can expect. If you're used to tiny Android boxes that are barely larger than the phones they contain, BlackBerry has a curveball to throw your way, as the Z10's practically looks luxurious by comparison, lost in a sea of velvety material. Digging down a little, we got our hands on all the accessories, including headphone and a ...

We've been hearing about BlackBerry 10 hardware for well over a year now, and along the way have seen dozens of leaks and read just as many rumors about what we could expect. Last fall, our idea of what RIM's (now just BlackBerry's) launch devices would be finally began to solidify, and we started looking forward to a full-touch device at launch, followed shortly thereafter by one sporting a hardware QWERTY keyboard. After going through a bunch of different names for these models, we finally zeroed-in on Z10 for the keyboard-less model, and today that phone finally went official. At the ...

Dreaming about a big 4.7-inch BlackBerry 10 smartphone? Don't count it on it showing up anytime soon, as in a follow-up Q&A session to this morning's BlackBerry 10 launch event, CEO Thorsten Heins confirmed that the screen configurations used on the new Z10 and Q10 models will be those the company sticks with for future BB10 handsets. That means a 4.2-inch widescreen 1280 x 768 option, and a square 720 x 720 3.1-inch screen for the company's QWERTY models. While that's going to make things simple for developers, and help create an iconic look for BlackBerry 10 models, we can see how ...

We were just getting our hopes up about the chance of seeing BlackBerry 10 hardware available immediately after today's platform kick-off event, but that's sadly not going to be the case everywhere. Indeed, while the UK gets the Z10 as of tomorrow, and Canada will get it next week, the US will have to wait until mid-March. We had heard that March date rumored earlier, but after having that followed up by all these other rumors of earlier launches elsewhere (now confirmed), we grew optimistic that everyone would be seeing the new hardware sooner rather than later; clearly, that's not the ...

Of all the leaked hardware we've seen leading up to today's BlackBerry 10 launch event, no device has been more clear in our eyes than the Z10. BlackBerry is really embracing the idea of models with no hardware keyboards from the get-go with BB10, and the Z10 is intended to highlight just how far the company has come since its QWERTY roots. The Z10 features a 4.2-inch 1280 x 768 display, for a pixel density of 356 ppi. Around back, there's a textured surface to give you a secure grip on the phone, which will be arriving in both black and white. The phone runs a dual-core 1.5GHz OMAP 4470 ...

The anticipated start of retail sales for RIM's BlackBerry Z10 keeps moving forward on us. First we were hearing dates out in late February and even March, while more recently we've been looking to availability sometime in the first week of February. With the model just about to go official at RIM's launch event tomorrow, today we get our first glimpse at the phone's packaging, as well as learn that it could go up for sale as soon as tomorrow. A leaked memo from Vodafone in the UK reveals the carrier's intent to start sales of the Z10 as of 5PM local time tomorrow. That certainly doesn't ...

We've known to expect a white BlackBerry Z10 for a while now, and have had a few opportunities to check out depictions of just such a model thanks to a number of leaks. Well, press renders and official photographs are well and good, but if you've been wondering when we'd have the opportunity to check out the white Z10 in the flesh, we've got good news for you, upon a smattering of images surfacing with just a couple days to go before RIM's grand BB10 launch. Of course there are a lot of rumors about upcoming BlackBerry devices! The Z10 is particularly omnipresent in the headlines and today we have an alleged press render leak showing off the forthcoming BlackBerry Z10. We've already seen a pair of leaked renders the other day but this time we get the chance to see the white flavor of the phone too. January 30 is the day for RIM's BlackBerry 10 launch and depending on which rumors you're likely to believe, the full-touch Z10 here will arrive as early as February 5 in some regions (or end of March for some carriers in the US). There will be much ...

Make no mistake: RIM's BlackBerry 10 launch is still scheduled for January 30. While that should bring us all sorts of news on just how we can expect the new platform to roll out, rumors are already looking to just when the first hardware will arrive. So far, we've heard a couple possible dates for the arrival of the full-touch Z10, with both a February 28 date attached to a launch in Canada, and a much farther-out March 27 for T-Mobile in the States. As we start to close in on RIM's announcement (less than a week to go), a new rumor suggests that the Z10 could arrive much sooner than any ...

Ever since late last month, we've been able to associate the BlackBerry 10 L-series hardware with the name Z10, thanks to a number of leaked RIM documents. While not particularly likely, the very slim possibility remained that Z10 could still be an internal name for the handset, or at least one that wouldn't be universally applied. Now that's very much looking not to be the case, upon a new leak revealing the (unfortunately, in a very low-res screenshot) Verizon web page being prepared for the Z10's debut. The message here seems clear: even though we had heard about a number of different ...
