Before it was purchased by Sprint, I used to work for an American wireless carrier called Nextel. It differentiated itself from other carriers in several ways, one of them being its stable of durable hardware. Almost every handset was big, bulky, and nigh-indestructible. My favorite phones to sell were those that met the requirements of U.S. MIL-STD 810. So far, news about which Android handsets will be making the journey to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and which will be left behind to stagnate has largely been coming from the manufacturers themselves. Some, like Motorola, have detailed support pages up outlining which models should be seeing updates, and when. Both tablets will get the same update, except for the "Stylus enhancements" which will only roll out to the 10.1 model. Within two weeks from rolling out the update above, Verizon will let loose an update which will transform the ...

The Motorola Xyboard 8.2 with WiFi and the Motorola Xyboard 10.1 with WiFi, which we've known since November, are now available for pre-order online at Motorola's. Successors of the Xoom, the two Xyboards go for $399.99 (for the 8.2 inch model) and $499.99 (for the 10.1 variant). They both pack a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, five-megapixel main cameras, 1.3-megapixel front facers and run Android 3.2 Honeycomb with the option to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If you're sold on the new Motorola tablets and decide to pre-order, you'll be getting your unit on the week of January ...
