Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the recent announcement of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, which will apparently make the iPad mini look overweight. Sony later takes the spotlight again as rumors of their first phablet emerge as well. The Nexus 10 goes next as it seems we'll see a minor hardware refresh at MWC 2013. Over the course of the past week, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z went from rumor to seemingly-confirmed pretty darn quickly, and a document from Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo made it seem like the tablet would be going official early this week. Sure enough, today Sony unveiled the 10.1-inch, higher-than-1080p tablet we were expecting. The Tablet Z features a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 Mobile Bravia 2 display, giving it a solid 224ppi pixel density; that won't compete with smartphones like the Xperia Z, but a display this size just might have you be appreciating that high resolution all the more. The Jelly ...

January: the post-holiday comedown mixes with the post-CES recovery and pre-MWC quiet to form a lull of epic proportions. Fortunately though, leaks and rumors never stop, and we've got a few of them to bat around on this episode of the Weekly. Today, Joe Levi and Anton D. Nagy each return to the podcast to talk rumored Sony Xperia tablets, LG Windows Phones, and the will-it-never-die speculation surrounding a cheap iPhone. If the screenshot above is any indication then the new Sony tablet will be announced by NTT DoCoMo on January 22, after which it will be on display between January 23 and 27. The information was pulled from the "docomo smartphone lounge" which appears to be directly linked to the Japanese carrier. If the above turns out to be ...

We then move to the Android 4.2.2 rumors, though we sadly won't celebrate the reason why it'll be launched eventually. Samsung later takes the spotlight with their Exynos 5 Octa processor and we go through some of the technical reasons why this processor isn't a crazy idea. Later we move through lots of the rumors of a cheaper iPhone coming this year and why this is not such a far-fetched idea. We end today's show with a huge Thank You to all of you for ...

Sony announced its Xperia Tablet S (above) all the way back in August, and while we've seen the company move on to some higher-end models for its Xperia smartphone lineup, we can't say the same for its tablets. That's not to say that there's anything wrong with its 9.4-inch 1280 x 800 screen or Tegra 3 SoC, but when compared to newer tablets like the Nexus 10, the Xperia Tablet S is definitely starting to show its age. It sounds like Sony could be nearly ready to do something about that by adding some new blood to its tablet offerings, as a new leak attempts to detail what we can expect ...
