A little under a month ago, back at the tail end of March, Sony offered some very important news about its Lollipop update plans. While earlier it had only affirmed its intent to make Lollipop available for the various phones and tablets making up the flagship Z-series of Xperia models, the situation was far less clear for other Xperia devices. At one point Sony was saying outright “no” to such updates, but it quickly backed away from that hard-line stance. And as we learned at the end of March, at least two non-Z models were very much in line for Lollipop: the Xperia T2 Ultra and ...

What's going on with Sony's Lollipop update efforts? The manufacturer has confirmed Android Lollipop for its Xperia Z family of devices, and while we've already seen the start of those, when will more devices get access? And what's the fate going to be for all those non-Z models? While we've checked out evidence that at least some appear to have Lollipop updates in the works, some formal confirmation that Sony intends to release such updates would be lovely. As luck would have it, we've got new progress on both fronts. Let's start with the Z models, and how a couple weeks back Sony got ...

Back at the start of the month, Sony dropped a bombshell for many of its Android users: if you weren't rocking an Xperia Z-series phone, you weren't going to get Android 5.0 Lollipop. No sooner had we started panicking than Sony looked like it might be reconsidering things, backing away from its hard “no,” and instead taking a “no comment” approach. We weren't quite sure what to make of that, but now we've got some additional evidence to check out, with signs of a Lollipop update for a non-Z model arriving via official source. We're talking about the Bluetooth SIG, which posts ...

One of the hottest phones you can't buy very easily right now (in the US, at least) is the LG G3. Though we've heard of an alleged July 17 launch date on Verizon, details surrounding a launch on other carriers' networks have been scarce. A new report states that the LG G3 T-Mobile release will be soon before Verizon's expected date, and also details plans for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. First up is the LG G3. It'll allegedly land on shelves on July 16, just one day before Verizon will possibly get its hands on it. In case you've been living in a cave and need a recap ...

We're not quite sure why these two phones didn't make it to Vegas; they could've been a great companion to the Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z1S, making Sony's event somewhat richer as far as mobiles are concerned. Instead, Sony decided to keep things flagship-only (in terms of specs), but with the addition of the T2 Ultra (and dual), as well as the Xperia E1 (and dual), it's portfolio gets richer for the 2014 line-up. The Xperia T2 Ultra, and its dual sibling, pack a large six-inch screen with TRILUMINOS technology but "only" a 720p resolution. Worthy of mid-range specs are also CPU and ...
