The Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo is no stranger when it comes to leaked images as we've already seen a couple showing off a huge screen. A closer-to-the-original (and hopefully reality) render has just surfaced making the Xperia Duo a not so well kept Sony Ericsson secret. Rumor has it the Xperia Duo will sport a dual-core Cortex A9 processor aided by the Mali-400 GPU, under the name of NovaThor A9500 chipset. Clock is rumored to be ticking at 1.4GHz puting the Galaxy S II in a not-so-positive light. Other rumors imply the usage of the HTC Sensation-like Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset so ...

A picture of the alleged and upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo surfaced last Friday and was giving hopes to everyone who is a fan of the manufacturer as this smartphone could very well be Sony Ericsson's first dual-core. From the same source comes today's picture too that places the Xperia Duo on the Xperia Arc's side, so we can have a better sense of its proportions. We know the Xperia Arc is 125mm tall and looking at the picture above we'd say the Xperia Duo is a tad larger, say 130-ish, making it a large smartphone. The display on the Xperia Arc is 4.2-inches in diagonal and, as we ...

Sony Ericsson plans to release at least four phones this year besides the four already announced, including some in the US first, according to CEO Bert Nordberg. It wasn't clear if the joint venture chief was referring to all smartphones or a mix of smart and "dumb" devices, although the revelation seemed to come during a conversation with Business Week in which Android was the primary focus. Nordberg stated that he hoped to eventually capture a full quarter of the Android market -- up from the current 14%, reportedly -- although a time frame for that goal was not given. A US-first release ...

Sony Ericsson appears to be working on a new phone with model number MK16i, which is rumored to be a version of the Hallon (a.k.a. "Vivaz 2" and probably branded as Xperia Neo) with a keyboard. So far the only thing we know about this device -- other than the fact that it bears a very similar model number to MT-15i Hallon -- is that it features a six-megapixel camera (or is testing at that resolution, at least), the same as Hallon. Japanese site Blog of Mobile!!! is reporting that MK16i goes by the codename Iyokan, which Wikipedia describes as a popular Japanese citrus fruit. MK16i's only ...

Sony Ericsson has confirmed that it will be announcing "new members of the Xperia family" at February's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, in a press invitation to its Sunday, February 13th presentation. As we reported earlier this week, the company recently filed trademarks for four Xperia brands: Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Arc, and Xperia Duo; while the first branding likely refers to the upcoming PlayStation Phone, codenamed Zeus, the other three are just as mysterious now as before. We do know that the manufacturer has an X10 followup known as Anzu in the wings, and ...

Sony Ericsson has recently filed for European Union trademarks on four Xperia brandings, including one -- "Xperia Play" -- that sounds like it could be the retail name of the company's not-so-secret gaming smartphone. We'd initially heard that the so-called PlayStation phone would hit shelves as the Xperia Z1 -- an homage to its Zeus codename, apparently -- but it would make sense for the joint venture to follow other manufacturers' leads and drop the confusing alphanumeric model numbers for catchy, easy-to-remember brands like Galaxy S, Droid X, and 7 Surround/Mozart/Trophy/Pro. The other ...
