"Ah, so that's the way a phone should work." That's just one line from a series of company-crafted snippets on Motorola's official website for the new Moto X, and it's a great encapsulation of the company's intent behind the new flagship smartphone. But the Moto X isn't just another spec-laden super-device; it's a petite handheld with modest metrics that tries to leverage its thinking power better. It's an attempt at a smarter (instead of a beefier) smartphone that "operates on your terms." And it comes in a bevy of colors with matching accessories to make sure you can "fit right in," even ...

You asked for it, and no amount of pithy pre-roll pedantry is going to keep you from the magic. So ignore all this text and hop on down to our newest comparison featuring the latest and greatest deluxe smartphones from two major manufacturers: Moto X vs HTC One (Google Play Edition) is here! Or, if you're not the type to blow past carefully-crafted intro text all willy-nilly, here's a little pre-comparison scoop on what we'll be taking a look at today. As you know, we went hands-on with the Moto X yesterday at Google's NYC launch event, and it was awesome. Shorty thereafter, following a ...

We're on the eve of the launch of a most significant (if not spec-packed) smartphone, the Moto X. We're hot on the heels of the industry's latest benchmark-juicing scandal with Samsung's Galaxy S 4 tweaking. We're only a week away from seeing what LG has to offer with its G2 (though we already know what accessories it's launching with). And we're not even a week out from the launch of the Nokia Lumia 1020, but we're already in full-on fretting mode about our favorite Finns. That roster would be enough to fuel two podcast episodes this size, to say nothing of listener mail! But thanks to ...

It's not every day you schedule a podcast the day before one of the biggest Windows Phone announcements in the platform's history - but given our plans to host a special-edition Pocketnow Live event covering Nokia's NYC event tomorrow, we thought it best to get the Weekly out of the way ahead of time. That doesn't mean we don't talk Nokia - indeed, we've got Chief News Editor Stephen Schenck on the air with us this week to discuss what it's been like to follow the story of the EOS/1020/909, probably one of the most widely-leaked devices in smartphone history. We also follow the leaky ...

It's weird when holidays fall in the middle of the week, because either you're kicking off a long weekend with the special celebration, or you're returning to work the next day with a fuzzy brain, a sunburn, and sand in your hair. We're in the latter situation this week at Pocketnow, the American portion of the team coming down from a day of BBQ and a night of fireworks ... but in our case, it's a good thing. Because today's the day for our weekly mobile tech podcast, and we love us some mobile-tech podcasting. We hope you do, too, because today's Pocketnow Weekly is quite possibly the ...

The mysterious Motorola Moto X is coming this summer but some reports talk about August 1, others try to find different dates. It's coming, nonetheless. If this recent report turns out to be true, the phone pictured above might be the Moto X. Until then, it's just theĀ Motorola XT1056. The source of the image believes this is the Moto X though, and the phone pictured, X or not, is being tested on Sprint's 4G network. The screen, according to the report, is roughly 4.5-4.6-inches in diagonal, which might be close to the rumored 4.7-inch display. There are 16GB of internal storage, a ...

At Pocketnow, we have a responsibility to try the new, the fresh, and the weird - and that latter swamp is exactly the one Managing Editor Anton D. Nagy waded into with his recent review of the ASUS Fonepad - the tablet with an earpiece. Or the phone with a tablet screen. Whatever you want to call it, we've covered it - and Tony has some thoughts about using a seven-inch smartphone in this edition of one of your favorite tech podcasts. After we clear the giant-phone convo, we've got more to say. Lots more. And, doubtless to the relief of thousands, very little of it involves Samsung's ...

We didn't expect to run the Weekly with a skeleton crew two weeks in a row - and it's a good thing we didn't have to. Mere minutes into this week's Tony-and-Michael-only podcast, Taylor Martin arrives to save us from the spectre of a fun, but low-energy, two-man show. In its place: jokes, laughs, and a lot of industry insight you're gonna wanna put your ears on. We talk phone batteries that can jump-start your car, what place Twitter has in music, whether we should be excited about Motorola's X phone or Nokia's aluminum Catwalk, and the strengths and weaknesses of Windows Phone, Facebook ...
