Much of the Galaxy S 4 talk over the past week has been about this Google AOSP edition of the phone, but we're also still waiting for it to hit one more carrier in the US: Verizon. Last week we got word that Verizon would no longer wait until the very end of the month to get things started with the GS4, and instead was pushing-up its plans for the handset. As we get ready for the handset to come to the carrier this Thursday, May 23, we're learning of some promotions Verizon is running to usher-in the Android. This may be a tad specific, so apologizes to those of you who are unable to take ...

Read OnAfter what seemed like an endless torrent of leaks, Nokia's Lumia 928 for Verizon finally went official earlier this month, getting its formal announcement a week ago. At the time, we learned that the phone would be available in Verizon retail stores beginning today, May 16. We also see online sales of the phone open up today, but the 928 isn't quite ready to ship just yet. According to Verizon, orders for the Lumia 928 will ship by next Monday, May 20. We know, that's just a few days, but the disparity between online and retail availability dates may just point to possible supply chain ...

Late last week we talked about a theory regarding the launch of Verizon's version of the HTC One. While it was heavily based on speculation, the idea that Verizon might take advantage of an event during the upcoming CTIA conference to announce the smartphone seemed pretty darn logical. Verizon continues to remain tight-lipped about the situation, but we get a little bit of circumstantial evidence supporting the One launch theory today, upon seeing Verizon heavily discount the HTC Droid DNA. After all, the predominant theory for why Verizon has kept its distance from the One concerns last ...

Back in April, we got word that Verizon would be adding its own version of the Galaxy S 4 to its lineup sometime in May. As we moved closer to the end of April, we saw pre-orders for the phone begin, and finally learned just when it would hit the carrier: May 30. Several weeks have passed since, and Verizon has a touch of good news for its subscribers, revealing today that the GS4 will arrive early. Instead of May 30, Verizon will get the Galaxy S 4 a full week earlier, on May 23. We wonder if Samsung simply committed to having stocks ready earlier, or if Verizon has moved things up as a ...

What are Verizon's intentions for the HTC One? There've been a lot of rumors, speculation, and conflicting official comments from both the carrier and manufacturer, leaving us guessing. Common sense would suggest that Verizon needs to adopt the handset at some point, but that it would want to do so without causing too much friction around the Droid DNA and its owners. Now a new theory tries to pinpoint just when Verizon might want to make its One plans official, and it makes more than a little sense. Today's Lumia 928 announcement came a little bit out of left field; we assumed it was ...

After advertising material for the Nokia Lumia 928 surfaced a little early, Nokia dropped any pretense that the phone was still secret and has spent this week releasing additional 928 promotional content. Still, we've wondered when the wave would finally crest and we'd get a proper announcement and all. There's Nokia's London event next week, but a UK event for a Verizon launch never made much sense. Instead, Nokia and Verizon have decided to play this one low-key, forgoing any formal press event and simply announcing the 928's arrival this morning. The Lumia 928 launch will come to ...

I remember a point in time when there were only two ways I communicated: face to face and though voice calls. Back then, voice calls, even to other wireless subscribers using the same provider, counted towards your monthly allotment. Coming from a small town where literally everyone is friendly, locking the doors to your house isn't necessary and everyone within a few miles are close family friends, my family usually opted to just save minutes and drop by someone's house if we had a question or wanted to socialize. Then I got my own cell phone with SMS. And from that moment, I've disliked ...

Nokia Lumia 928 vs Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S III video comparison, courtesy of Nokia, that's what we have here. There's a lot of smoke recently concerning the Nokia Lumia 928, and there surely must be a fire too. We've seen a lot of leaks and heard a lot of rumors about the upcoming Lumia phone and, a couple of days after its landing page went live, Nokia has updated the info with official renders and a comparison video -- though we'll hold off on conclusions until we test the phone against other models in our own labs and environments. Above you can see the official images of the ...

It's almost getting funny at this point, the extent to which the cat's out of the bag when it comes to the Nokia Lumia 928 for Verizon, yet there's still no formal announcement of the smartphone. As we wait for word, more and more evidence of the model's existence and impending launch continues to arrive from official sources; we had the billboard yesterday, and today get to share with you both a magazine ad featuring the 928, as well as the phone's landing page on Nokia's US site. The two-page ad in Vanity Fair invites users to "capture the highlights" of their lives using the 928's ...

Then we move to HTC as the red HTC One shows itself in the UK, along with the fact that HTC has improved in sales this month when compared to last month. Then we go through the BlackBerry R10 being compared the Q10, just to make your choice for either much easier since the R10 is just ugly. Later we go through the leaks of a mysterious LG phone we assume to be the Optimus G2, and then we talk about the reports that ...

Unless our crystal ball has been giving out some seriously wrong readings, it sure feels like Nokia's next smartphone to launch will be the Lumia 928 for Verizon. As if all the leaked renders weren't enough, the handset may just have been spotted in the flesh at a Nokia party last week. With a press event scheduled for May 14, we've been wondering if it isn't just about time for the 928 to finally step out into the spotlight. Today we get one more sign of its impending launch, with the discovery of an early Lumia 928 billboard. According to the Nokia fan who snapped the pic, this ad was up ...

A lot of factors play in a decision that ends in you agreeing to keep a service in good standing for upwards of two years. Each and every time I go to upgrade one of my lines, it gives me pause. There's just something daunting about signing a two-year agreement, something that makes you think, "My contract will end soon. Is it time to shop around again?" My first cell phone was a Motorola T720c (dumb phone) through Alltel. It was a hand-me-down that my mother had used for about a year. I was 14 and I was in a band, playing shows almost every weekend and spending a lot of time away from ...
