Of course, a ton of people would be at Microsoft's Windows 10 briefing today using their Surface computers. Of course, Microsoft would announce a new Surface Pro today. Not of course was the Surface Book we got today. It's a laptop. But not really. When all of the new Windows 8 tablets started showing up on the market late last year, the prices seemed a little steep. Why would you pay $900 for a Windows 8 tablet with 64Gb SSD, 2Gb of RAM and an Atom processor? That sounds like Netbook specs to me. According to Anand Shimpi, the OEMs knew these prices were too high from the beginning. Shimpi tweeted a nice deal where you can get the Acer W510-1666 Tablet for only $479 from NewEgg though it's now back up to $529 but that's still less than the $599 usual price. You can now find a similar model for $399 at the Microsoft Store. ...

There's a new build of Windows 8 available called the Windows 8 Release Preview. We thought we'd take a look at how it works on our old HP TouchSmart TM2 tablet PC. Take a look at the video below to check it out. Not a whole lot has changed within the primary operating system other than a nicer app launching animation. We still have the customizable live tiles on the start screen, but with the release preview, a lot of the bundled apps have been updated for stability and more features.
