September has been a fantastically busy month for those of us in the industry covering all the new smartphone and tablet announcements. First there was IFA, then Apple's iPhone launch, and now we're less than a week away from Microsoft's Surface event, where some new tablets are eagerly anticipated. Well, speak of the devil! We only just finished telling you about the latest rumors to discuss Surface 2 hardware, when now we finally get some news about just when to expect these tablets to launch, with Microsoft distributing invites for a September 23 New York event. That should mean finally getting answers about all the hardware rumors we've been hearing, not just for the tablets themselves, but for for their accessories, as well. For those of you wondering if Microsoft will continue selling their Surface tablet, well, let's just say that the company has to figure out how to get rid of that overstock anyway. New reports have Redmond already working on a Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 that are both using the exact same designs from last year, but this time powered by the new Intel Hashwell Core i5 chip, in the case of the Surface Pro 2.
