Last year, rumors were flying around hot that Microsoft was putting together a pint-sized version of its Surface tablet, the presumed Surface Mini. From the sound of things, we'd be getting a device with a display in the seven-to-eight-inch range, and that the aspect ratio might change to an iPad-style 4:3. But then by the time 2014 started looming over the horizon, these Surface Mini rumors began drying up, and we haven't heard anything noteworthy in several months now. All of a sudden, though, the Surface Mini is back in the spotlight with new rumors discussing the tablet's hardware, ...

Just what use would an iris scanner be on a smartphone? When will 2K displays take over the smartphone world (and why should we care)? How exactly does one spell "Magotes," anyway? If these questions have ever crossed your worried minds -and even if they haven't- the second-to-last episode of the Pocketnow Weekly's 2013 season is right up your twisted alley, friend. But even if you're not interested in such tomfoolery, there's still plenty here to ping your pong. In this episode we talk headline-grabbing rumors like the Galaxy S 5 and wooden Moto X, yes - but we also spend a lot of time ...

Our apology for some technical difficulties in publishing this. The video has been live on YouTube since yesterday. Watch today's Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the new rumors on the Oppo Find 7 with its 2K display. Then we shift our focus towards Nokia as things don't seem positive when it comes to their 8.3-inch tablet plans, even though Microsoft's 8-inch Surface is rumored to bring some innovative things. Samsung is next, this time because the company has shifted their marketing strategy, and that even includes plans for retail stores. We then cover the rumors of Google's EnergySense ...

It's been a while now since we heard anything new about Microsoft's possible plans for a Surface 2 Mini, after a number of rumors attempted to describe such hardware a couple months back. At the time, we didn't have a firm grasp on many specifics, with details like screen aspect ratio, size, and resolution still up in the air. While we can't yet say if it's any more accurate, today we get to check out some new claims about the hardware and hear about some possible features. For starters, instead of a 4:3 display in the seven-inch range, apparently we're now looking at a widescreen 1080p ...

The Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 launched pretty much how we expected them to, and while Microsoft had some interesting accessories to share, the tablets themselves had already been largely described in leaks. But even as those two went official, there were still some lingering Surface 2 questions we still wanted to see answered. Those included both when we might see LTE support in the tablet, and also what might become of rumors about a Surface 2 Mini. We get a few answers along those lines, thanks to some new comments from Microsoft's Panos Panay. First up: that LTE-enabled Surface 2. We ...

Microsoft's Surface 2 announcement has come and gone without any sign of a Surface Mini, the pint-sized Surface tablet that's been popping up in rumors all summer. Truth be told, that wasn't a huge surprise, as we'd heard that the Surface Mini might be announced separately, though still intended for release before the year's end. Well, today we hear a few more details about the tablet's purported hardware, as well as claims that a 2013 launch might no longer be in the running. Analysts looking at supply chain sources suggest that Microsoft is going for a 7.5-inch display for the Surface ...

We've been talking a fair amount about upcoming Surface tablets lately, first thanks to a wave of rumors arriving to attempt to outline the hardware changes we'd be seeing, and then upon Microsoft sending out invitations for a Surface event later this month. Some of those rumors talked about the possibility that, in addition to a new Surface 2 (née RT) and Surface Pro 2, we'd also see the arrival of a smaller Surface Mini. Today, we hear a few details about the tablet, including how it might launch. Supposedly, the Surface Mini will have an eight-inch display and will run Windows RT. It ...

For those of you wondering if Microsoft will continue selling their Surface tablet, well, let's just say that the company has to figure out how to get rid of that overstock anyway. New reports have Redmond already working on a Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 that are both using the exact same designs from last year, but this time powered by the new Intel Hashwell Core i5 chip, in the case of the Surface Pro 2. Sadly we still don't have details on which processor the regular Surface 2 will have. An interesting twist to the design of both tablets is that apparently the kickstand, love it or ...
