RIM may be preparing a hardware refresh for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550, allegedly dubbed the BlackBerry 9570, although this device seems to be different than the rumored "Storm 3" we saw a few days ago. According to BlackBerry Leaks, which has posted both a purported image of the phone as well as a smattering of specs, the 9570 will pack 512MB of RAM, a five-megapixel camera, and -- perhaps most importantly -- BlackBerry's all new OS 6. BGR is speculating that the refresh is necessary because OS 6 requires 512MB of RAM, meaning that the current crop of Storm 2's are not suitable for ...

Another rumor has emerged to further confuse the issue of the BlackBerry Storm 3, with BlackBerry Leaks claiming to have received conflicting specs for this vaporous device from multiple sources. However, the Storm 3 being referred to by the site is not the Storm 3 9570 we just saw pop up in Verizon's Cellebrite system -- a.k.a. the Storm 2 OS 6 refresh -- but supposedly that handset with capacitive buttons which surfaced back in September courtesy of Berry Review. The Storm 9570 was recently rumored to have been canceled, further muddying the situation. So this device, which we'll call ...

There have been quite a few recent leaks of potential BlackBerry Storm 3 handset candidates. Today we seem to have some alleged clarification that the Blackberry Storm 3 will actually be the BlackBerry 9570. A picture supposedly taken of the screen from a Verizon Cellebrite machine clearly shows the model 9570 followed by the words "Storm 3". (A Cellebrite machine is used to swap contacts from an old phone to a new phone in-store, when buying a new handset). The Blackberry 9570 looks like being an incremental upgrade to the Storm 2. From the information that we know, the main difference ...

The third generation of the Storm franchise will have slightly improved specs and will include a mobile hotspot feature along with BlackBerry 6 operating system including the new Webkit browser, a first for RIM smartphones. Among the improvements from the hardware side, the Storm3 packs a more modest 512 MB RAM--twice that of its predecessor--and a 5-megapixel camera, up from 3. Even more BlackBerry leaks today following the Dakota, Curve "Apollo," and Torch 2, and BGR seems to have saved the best for the last: the BlackBerry Storm3. Actually, the full touchscreen device pictured above may not even be branded Storm, according to the report; Monaco and Monza are supposedly the codenames for foreign variation of the OS 6.1-powered handset. Looking nearly the same as the optical trackpad-equipped device we saw last September -- and not like the 9570 Storm2 refresh also rumored to be in the works -- this model is said to sport a 1.2GHz processor (just like the alleged ...

There hasn't been a lot of news on what Verizon Wireless wants to do with its BlackBerry Storm franchise, which uses a SurePress touchscreen technology, requiring users to actually press in on the screen, like they would on a touchpad of a laptop. The devices in the Storm series have so far been met with mixed reviews, but it looks like RIM is planning on a storm revival with the Storm 3, a device that is said to be powered by a new OS that's not quite the current BlackBerry OS nor is it the next-generation BlackBerry 6 OS. Additionally, the Storm 3 will be powered by Verizon Wireless' ...

It looks like Research in Motion is still working on their BlackBerry Storm franchise; after having released the Storm 2 last year, America's leading smartphone maker will be following up with a Storm 3 later this year and a Storm 4 in 2011. The Storm series, in their tablet touchscreen form factor, will be competing with the yet to be released BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider, which uses a touchscreen that slides in portrait mold to reveal a keyboard. The Storm 3 will be a multimedia and gaming device with RIM reportedly working with EA on bringing some gaming titles to the touchscreen tablet ...
