This is a day that I'm sure every Apple executive will remember more than we will in the future. The reason is because, for the first time in over half a decade, a great product that could be was just made good. Apple has made the horrendous mistake of letting the engineers take over. Engineers hated Steve Jobs. If you read his biography, you'll notice just how often he would clash with Jon Rubinstein (who later departed to become Palm's CEO after he had enough). As I read the recent news of Apple, once again, beating their own sales record with the iPhone 5 on opening weekend, I couldn't help but remember my first impression of the iPhone 5 announcement. The device wasn't as remarkable as many of us expected it to be, but it was hard to turn my head away from the fact that it was available for pre-order in two days, and it would arrive in my doorstep just ten days later. As Phil Schiller stood on stage to reveal Apple's new iPhone 5, a lot of things crossed my mind. There are certainly lots of things to like about it, but I'll admit that it's not what I'd call love at first sight. The iPhone 4S had somehow pushed me into a rough trend of infidelity, as I do most of my smartphone use on a One X lately, and the iPhone 5 has just made me realize that I'll remain guilty as charged.
