Sony pictures is still on track to build a Steve Jobs biopic in the next coming years. We’ve heard rumors of “The Social Network’s” director David Fincher in-charge of the movie, and Christian Bale playing the leading roll of Steve Jobs, but recent reports claim that Sony wasn’t able to land a monetary agreement with Fincher. Obviously the fact that a new director had to be cast for the movie will also bring changes in the actors to be chosen, and those changes seem big.
Danny Boyle is now reportedly cast for directing the movie, and these reports [...]

When Steve Jobs announced the iPad in 2010, I do remember that he never really used the phrase “Apple is re-inventing the tablet” as he did when the company launched the iPhone. Still, Apple’s bet in actually focusing on portability and affordability to make this tablet a mainstream product, and not a niche and expensive one, like Microsoft had, was a bold bet all together. We all panned the iPad when it was announced. I remember that it took me a full 11 months to decide to buy one, simply because I found no reason to buy a big smartphone. I kept repeating to myself that I didn’t need [...]
As we were all preparing for today’s live coverage of Apple’s iPhone event, Brandon made a statement behind the scenes that we all agreed with: “It would’ve been great if Steve Jobs was still around”. I know that not all of you have good thoughts about Steve, or Apple for that matter, but I’ve always been of the mentality that we should honor people where honor is due. Apple didn’t invent the GUI, and still, if it wasn’t for the first Mac, we would’ve probably spent another decade memorizing computer commands and code. Then we saw [...]
We all know that Bill Gates is happy where he is, and doesn’t want to return to Microsoft as a CEO. He’s publicly stated it repeatedly, and that has been a fact for a little over a decade. Still, every time I go through Microsoft’s current situation, I can’t deny how much of a déjà vu this is to the story of one of Microsoft’s closest rivals.
Larry Ellison was recently in the spotlight because of his comments regarding Apple’s leadership. The now billionaire CEO that created Oracle and that made it what it is, was also Steve Jobs’ best [...]
If you watch or participate in any of Apple’s keynotes, you’ll always here the words: “Amazing, iconic, beautiful, cutting-edge, gorgeous, etc., etc.” Any salesman will stand in front of you to try to sell you their product, and in some cases, they’ll do so without believing in it, simply because, like everyone, they too need to make a living. Still, there are some products that deserve praise, and most of the Apple products we’ve seen in the last decade are on that list.
Still, you’d be amazed at the fact that I wasn’t too happy [...]
As Tim Cook, Jony Ive and Craig Federighi revealed iOS 7 today, a lot of things crossed my mind. iOS in a way is very different to every other operating system. In the case of Android, it doesn’t matter how much thought Google puts into their OS, OEMs have all decided to change it and enhance their experiences on top of it. In the case of Windows Phone, even though the design is unified, the approach each OEM has given to design and software enhancements defines your choice for the product. In the case of iOS, Apple approaches the product differently. Company executives have [...]
Watch today’s Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the HTC One pre-orders on AT&T and Sprint aside from some RadioShack deals. Then we talk about the first leaks of an “HTC First”, and no, we’re not forgetting a part of the name. Then it’s Windows Blue rumors, as it’s believed that the final name for it will be Windows 8.1. Later we talk about the iPhone, as it’s rumored that the next two versions of the iPhone were decided on when Steve Jobs was still alive. We end today’s show talking about some new Samsung phablets being the Galaxy [...]
This is a day that I’m sure every Apple executive will remember more than we will in the future. The reason is because, for the first time in over half a decade, a great product that could be was just made good. Apple has made the horrendous mistake of letting the engineers take over.
Engineers hated Steve Jobs. If you read his biography, you’ll notice just how often he would clash with Jon Rubinstein (who later departed to become Palm’s CEO after he had enough). The reason why is because Steve and Jony would always push Jon to do impossible engineering with [...]
Watch today’s Pocketnow Daily as we talk about the recent rumors of an LG Nexus device in the works. Then we go through our coverage of the AT&T event yesterday where we had some hands-on time with the HTC One X+, One VX, Samsung Galaxy Camera and even some additional time with the Nokia Lumia 920. Then we talk about some improvements to iOS 6, though things are still not perfect. We later talk about the rumors of a probable Microsoft Surface phone and Redmond’s look for a manufacturer. We end today’s show remembering Steve Jobs, his legacy and importance to our [...]
As I read the recent news of Apple, once again, beating their own sales record with the iPhone 5 on opening weekend, I couldn’t help but remember my first impression of the iPhone 5 announcement. The device wasn’t as remarkable as many of us expected it to be, but it was hard to turn my head away from the fact that it was available for pre-order in two days, and it would arrive in my doorstep just ten days later. The same thing happened to most of us with Google’s launch of the Nexus 7. Neither of us had even held the device, but it was available for pre-order that [...]
As Phil Schiller stood on stage to reveal Apple’s new iPhone 5, a lot of things crossed my mind. There are certainly lots of things to like about it, but I’ll admit that it’s not what I’d call love at first sight. The iPhone 4S had somehow pushed me into a rough trend of infidelity, as I do most of my smartphone use on a One X lately, and the iPhone 5 has just made me realize that I’ll remain guilty as charged.
One of the things that struck me the most, were last year’s rumors of this project, right before the death of Steve Jobs. Lots of [...]
