ZTE's Nubia sub-brand has been counting down the days until the Nubia Z11 finally gets presented to the public as a shiny new phone that doesn't already have two other phones of its ilk released. Might as well be surprised with an update to the specs of this phone. We've been watching promotional posters counting down the days until the Nubia Z11's launch — just for fun, really. But on a serious note, we took another visit to the TENAA listing of what's supposedly the Nubia Z11 (model number NX531J). There were a few things that were not there since our original specifications post. ...

Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has listings up for two variants of the vivo X7, giving us more of an idea of what it has to offer in hardware. Most of the X7's internals were pretty much spoiled from the getgo by vivo while the X7 Plus — or, more correctly, a facsimile of it — got teased in visuals. But beyond the basics, what more can we pull out of TENAA? Well, for one thing, the 5.2-inch full HD display is made out of OLEDs. The 16-megapixel selfie camera will get paired with a 13-megapixel one. Android 5.1 will come standard on the device as well as the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ...

Biting your nails for the Nexus launch this quarter? We're creeping up on it ever so slowly and yet, leaks have been all about who's making it, who else's making it and how many they're going to make. HTC is said to be in charge of two projects — "Marlin" and "Sailfish" — and it seems that Android Police is 80 percent confident that what it's hearing about the Sailfish device (not to be confused with Jolla's Sailfish OS) is accurate. So what's the payload here? A yet-to-be-known quad-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2GHz paired with 4GB of RAM to power on a five-inch, full HD ...

The OnePlus 3 might've represented a coming of age for the startup behind it, but with its past marketing material — telling consumers to "Never Settle" and buy their "Flagship Killers" — seemingly haunting what could be considered as an overspecced phone by default, OnePlus certainly has a challenge in telling people that it either has either narrowed down or completely shifted its target demographics for its products. There's one thing, though, that Carl Pei cannot forgive. [OnePlus] needed to cut somewhere and since they managed to get Samsung panels on discount it's not that ...

There are three Nubia Z11 variants we know of and there could soon be a forth. It depends on whether or not it gets announced on June 28. Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has this interesting take on a device that has been iterated on over and over again. The major spec here is the 4.9Ah battery on this thing. It keeps thickness to a respectable 8.95mm, but includes some hardware compromise to keep it from flagship status. The octa-core 1.95GHz chipset doesn't offer much of a tell of what it could be, but it gets 3GB of RAM for backup. The LCD keeps to 5.5 inches at full HD. Both cameras on ...

All screen, no phone? Well, that's a monitor. But if you're looking for something mobile that does away with as much bezel as possible, we might be coming in close on the Nubia Z11 Max, a phone that didn't get released with its Mini sibling last month. The ZTE subsidiary's senior vice president Ni Fei posted a big fat teaser on Weibo today touting that the phone will be arriving with an 83.27 percent screen-to-body ratio. Not too bad for Nubia — its Z9 phone was pretty comparable. Pictures from Chinese regulatory agency TENAA show the phone off in more detail with a fingerprint sensor ...

After several iterations of last year's Desire 626, HTC has decided to finally give a full update to the series. While new and more impressive specs are appreciated, we're left confused as to what the Desire 628 has to do with the Desire 630 we learned about at MWC. Twitter leaker The Malignant has posted some specs of the 628 with some familiar looking skeumorphs. #HTC DESIRE 628 5'' 720p, MTK6753 1.3GHz, 3GB RAM/32 GB ROM (+SD), 2200 mAH, R 13 mpx f/2.0 BSI, F 5 mpx, Dual-SIM pic.twitter.com/OZVhVypHVg — The Malignant (@the_malignant) May 8, 2016 If anything, the Desire 628 looks ...

Honor and its parent company Huawei are keeping up the counter this season with the former bringing down the price on some hardcore mobile hardware. Take the Huawei GX8 and the Honor 5X — both pretty much the same phone, but the GX8 cost $150 more than the 5X. So, hot off the heels of the Huawei P9's launch with its dual-camera module, we're looking forward to the Honor V8 and its own identical 12-megapixel dual-camera system. We're not sure where the name gets off being of LG's ilk. But we do have some road narrowing to do before the May 10 launch date. The display will come up to 5.5 ...

Following last year's success of the Nexus 6P, Huawei's a brand a lot more smartphone shoppers have started paying attention to. And for 2016, the manufacturer seems plenty up to the task of delivering some hardware worthy of our attention, most recently with today's launch of the P9 and P9 Plus. In a world where rumors of a dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus suggest that only the larger of Apple's next flagships will end up with an extra shooter, it's refreshing to see that Huawei's making no such distinction here: you can choose the smaller, more affordable P9 or the larger, somewhat more premium ...

Ask, and ye shall receive; ever since Apple pushed its smartphone lineup into larger new territory with the iPhone 6, a certain subset of users has been clamoring for the return of a new four-inch option. And while the last couple years brought us nothing but more 4.7 and 5.5-inch models, hope persisted that one day Apple might deliver another handset that would combine cutting edge specs with a petite, pocket-friendly body. But to hear the majority of rumors as of just a few months ago, would the iPhone's return to the four-inch space see it compromise on specs? Would Apple cripple the ...

We introduced you to the NuAns Neo at CES 2016. It's a Windows 10 Mobile phone that sports Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 system-on-a-chip and is able to run Continuum, Microsoft's protocol for extending a phone's horsepower onto a desktop space. Thing is, Microsoft didn't acknowledge this fact in its minimum specifications for Continuum up until now. Plop down to Microsoft's Hardware Dev Center today and you'll get an updated page with new minimum requisites looking form-fit to the Neo. The Snapdragon 617 is now among the 808 and 810 as being Continuum-supported processors. 2GB of RAM is ...

Huawei likes its Mates big. From the Ascend Mate 2 4G LTE to the Ascend Mate 7, the Chinese manufacturer seems to be in love with half-foot screens for its powerhouse devices. The Mate S took things down a step to 5.5 inches as it was launched ahead of the iPhone 6s Plus. But things look to be back in the swing of six as a GFXBench index card pops up for the heavily-anticipated Huawei Mate 8. Lots of stand-out specs here, including a theoretical 64GB storage option, 4GB of RAM, and the odd camera sensor resolutions. The company also seems comfortable to keep the six-inch 1080p display ...

We've been hitting the regulators pretty heavy for some device details during this stretch of the day. In addition to ZTE and Samsung, you can now add OnePlus's latest device onto the queue at the Telecommunication Equipment's Network Access Managements certification pile. The aesthetics of the "ONE E1001" (final name pending, but likely to be the OnePlus X) have definitely branched off from OnePlus's two previous phones. The edge-job in particular looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's siderails. But beyond the pictures are the numbers: [table] Component,Description Screen ...

In addition to pull the covers off of LG's Nexus 5X, Google made official its Nexus phablet entry for the year, the Nexus 6P. It's built by Huawei and certainly packs the innards to be a 2015 flagship. From its weirdo headpiece on the back containing its camera to the full body metal trim, this thing's definitely a looker — for good or bad reason. But with the size and specs come a premium — the 32GB storage option comes in at $499, 64GB will cost you $549 and the 128GB model comes in at $599. It definitely costs less than comparable flagships from Apple and Samsung. But where does all ...

Google has shut off the water to the leaky faucet with its announcement of the Nexus 5X, manufactured by LG. It was announced alongside the Huawei-made Nexus 6P. The 5X has been characterized as the little sibling of the pair with some decent specs (if only a bit stale) at a price range that's been getting all the spotlight as of late with the OnePlus 2, the Moto X Pure Edition and the ZTE Axon Pro, along with other smartphones. But does the Nexus 5X's value weigh out in your favor? It's $379 for the 16GB option and $429 for 32GB of storage. The rest of the deets are down below: Nexus 5X ...

Lately the trend of premium flagships has become some what of a norm. We see companies like Apple, HTC and Samsung launching an extra flagship with a few extra tricks up its sleeve, even though in most cases this is just phablet size. Sony has decided to do away with the whole "Plus" concept, and has decided to introduce a new Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. No, this is not just a larger version of the Xperia Z5, but instead a more feature packed device. The ASUS ZenFone 2 is the best smartphone in the company's lineup right now, and arguably, one of the boldest smartphones in the mid-range market. Or, you could say the ASUS ZenFone 2 is a mediocre device that's trying too hard to be the best in the lower end market. Or, the ASUS ZenFone 2 sounds kinda like the other phones I talked about just now, but somewhere in between. Well, I can say that the ASUS ZenFone 2 is actually all of the above. Our Editorial Director Michael Fisher debated the merits of choosing one of two ZenFones 2 (that is the correct way to execute that plurality, ...

The yearly cycle is repeating itself: one flagship is a year old, its replacement brand new. Just what has one year brought us in terms of specs, though? Has the rate of innovation slowed, or are smartphone internals becoming exponentially better with each generation? If it's the newly-announced LG G4 you're wondering about, we've got you covered with an LG G4 vs G3 specs comparison, right down below in chart form. Unsurprisingly, not a whole lot has changed; the G3 was a remarkable phone, and we regarded it as such when heading through the review process with it last year. The ...

LG's G4 just went official, the company's latest Android to take up the G-series name. And as such a flagship model, it's inevitable that we'll be putting the phone's specs under the microscope. With the G4, LG made the somewhat controversial decision not to go with the Snapdragon 810 that powers the HTC One M9, and even the LG G Flex 2 before it, and instead to only outfit the handset with the hexa-core Snapdragon 808. LG claims that the 808 was really the best fit for the phone, but will its performance measure up to its competition? As we wait to give the G4 our full review treatment, ...

Huawei just introduced its latest flagship, the slim, powerfully equipped P8 (no more Ascend). With a sleek metal build and an emphasis on camera performance, Huawei's hoping the P8 has what it takes to compete against other spring heavyweights like the Galaxy S6 and One M9. And over the next few months, a ton of factors will end up helping to determine the P8's fortunes, from promotion, to pricing, to simple availability. As we wait to see how those all will play out, there's one set of data we can immediately start using to compare the P8 to some of its peers: its hardware components. ...
