To be honest, the Axon Max that ZTE debuted for its domestic audience last year didn't look to be a welcome addition. Sure, the company had some aesthetics going on and a large screen for the people who prefer them. The Snapdragon 617 inside of it was somewhat weak, though. Well, good news and bad news — GFXBench has listed a device that looks to be the next version of the ZTE Axon Max. There are trade-offs to be made around the specs, though. For one, we're keeping the six-inch, full HD screen from last year. We do get an upgrade to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with eight Cortex-A53 ...

A Weibo leaker claims to have some another smartphone metal shell in their hands, this one not being the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In fact, we can be thankful that it's not a working prototype at this point. These pictures show us what the back side of the Huawei Mate 9 may look like. As the Mate series has gone on, we've found this device to be an evolutionary result in design, though the orientation of what may be a dual-camera unit differs from the Huawei P9's setup. We don't know if one will sensor will shoot in color and the other in monochrome as the P9 did. The flanking of what we ...

With T-Mobile letting the HTC 10 go from its stores quick, the Taiwanese manufacturer might have to rely on a mid-range phone to bring the money line just a bit higher. Perhaps a mid-range phone or two. VentureBeat's Evan Blass is reporting that HTC is working on a Desire 10 Lifestyle as well as a Desire 10 Pro. A source has disclosed specifications for the Lifestyle variant — a moniker that was associated with a spec downgrade on the HTC 10 Lifestyle. The display will span 5.5 inches at a 720p resolution and it will show off whatever Android Marshmallow has in store. An unknown ...

Huawei was not done when it released the P9 earlier this year. Supposedly, it still has plans for a Mate S sequel, a "Nexus" 7P and a Mate 9, too. All that pressure has us wondering more and more about this GFXBench log that we've picked up, thanks to Telefoonabonnement. The specs are pretty ordinary for a Huawei Mate phone: a nearly-six-inch full HD screen with a HiSilicon Kirin chipset of some sort, — GFXBench was only able to detect a set of Cortex-A53 cores — perhaps either a tweaked Kirin 955 or an all-new 960. There may be 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage along with a ...

After months of parts procurement and electrical engineering, a crowd-designed Surface challenger is nearly ready to go onto its funding stage. Finnish startup Eve has announced some of the terms of its Indiegogo campaign behind its Pyramid Flipper project. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin in late September or early October for 500 units of the Pyramid Flipper, soon to be known as just "Eve". "By selling only 500 devices we wold be able to ensure our customer service, shipping and other operational activities function smoothly," co-founder Konstantinos Karatsevidis wrote in a forum post. ...

The latest Tizen push is merely days away and it seems that the whole show may have been spoiled to us at this point. Samsung's Z2 smartphone should be making its entry-level presence known to entry-level countries (better known as emerging markets) late this month and it seems that SamMobile has an idea of what will go down in this device, when and where. Here are the main specs: [table] Screen size,5.2 inches Screen type,LCD Resolution,800 x 480 Pixel density,235 ppi Processor speed,1.5GHz RAM,1GB Storage,8GB Camera,5-megapixel rear / VGA front Battery,1500mAh OS,Tizen OS 2.4 ...

Meizu has another phone planned. No, it's not going to be a PRO, it's not going to be an MX, but rather, it's this "E" phone. What's a new letter to us? It's more unique than what we've seen from the Chinese manufacturer in a while. The Meizu M1E has been leaked to be an Exynos 8890-toting phone with a 3,100mAh battery (with Meizu's proprietary 18W mCharge technology). One Weibo user has compiled a whole bunch of information on the phone, including invitation dates, renders and benchmarks. [gallery ids="479620,479621,479622,479623,479624,479625,479626,479627,479628"]   The phone ...

You know how sequels should theoretically be "upgrades" to their predecessors? According to one source, we should be expecting a downgrade this year from the LG V10 for the V20. And if you prefer not to believe that, we have another rumored spec sheet for those thankful of the status quo. Let's tackle the numbers we're getting from the Seoul Economic Daily, first. The publication is getting word from its insiders that while it expects the Snapdragon 820 to be in there, there's a question of variance. There seems to be one model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while the other gets 4GB ...

Some rumors (nearly all the new ones) have been proven absolutely right. Others (mostly old) were probably too hopeful. After all, it kinda sorta makes sense for Samsung to merely refine the wildly successful Galaxy S7 Edge this fall before radically transforming it into the GS8 next spring. Besides, a fair comparison for the Galaxy Note 7 is likely against its Note 5-branded predecessor, not S-series cousin. And in that case, the upgrades are both obvious and substantial. But first things first, let’s see what the Note 6-skipping phablet is all about, and then, we’ll be sure to do a ...

The day after we find out about what Samsung has to Unpack is the day when OPPO unpacks its F1s. Of course, if a phone wants to take the next "step up in the selfie revolution," it'll need some impressive cameras to do so. Well, an Indian outlet believes it has the answers to not just those specs, but a few more. TechDroid is reporting that both the front and rear camera have 16 megapixels of resolution. All the software effects will be getting in, including the screen flash feature. One SKU will feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expandable by microSD up to 128GB. There will be ...

Either someone at Xiaomi's fooling around or the company has a couple of secrets to hide. Whatever the case, it continues to claim pieces of the news cycle with some Geekbench entries for some codenamed devices: the mid-range "Altun" and the stronger "Capricorn". The Altun phone has been running Geekbench tests since early May and — within the past several weeks — has been able to nail about a 20 percent improvement in its single-core score (from about 800 to the mid-900s) and a 40 percent jump in its multi-core score (from 2,800 to 4,000). This has been with the same hardware: an ...

Xiaomi is saying that two is greater than five. Product allegory would say that the Chinese manufacturer's upcoming Mi Note 2 will outperform Samsung's Galaxy Note 5. With such a time gap and better components available at lower prices, there's one big "duh" right there. Perhaps according to these rumors, it could even beat the Note 7. But hold the phone, if you will. From the point of view of Chinese rumor mongers, a so-called "Xiaomi Phone Pro" will be a smaller, less capable package than the regular Mi Note 2 — not like it was for an analgous Mi Note Pro last time around. This ...

Meizu is feeling the pressure to give a good whack at its mid-range flagship this season, especially with the bang-up job it supposedly did with the PRO 6. And one co-founder is opening up to those challenges. Bai Yongxiang has posted to his Weibo account that the company is doing its best to export as much power as possible from the PRO 6 to the MX6. "Costs and prices will increase, but I believe there will be nothing like it in terms of craftsmanship in the ¥2,000 range ($300-450)," Bai posted. For context, last year's MX5 started at around the equivalent of $290. One AnTuTu ...

When one shoe drops, the other shoe has to at some point. When one of two Nexus devices — both supposedly made by HTC — got its specifications splayed out in the open, you knew that the other had to be outed sooner or later. Well, Android Police has an idea of what a 5.5-inch phablet will bring, thanks to its source. So, what's going on with this spearfish? An unnamed quad-core Qualcomm processor with 4GB of RAM and either 32 or 128GB of storage. Fronting the phone is a quad HD AMOLED panel and an 8-megapixel camera. Below the 12-megapixel rear camera is a fingerprint sensor. ...

ZTE's Nubia sub-brand has been counting down the days until the Nubia Z11 finally gets presented to the public as a shiny new phone that doesn't already have two other phones of its ilk released. Might as well be surprised with an update to the specs of this phone. We've been watching promotional posters counting down the days until the Nubia Z11's launch — just for fun, really. But on a serious note, we took another visit to the TENAA listing of what's supposedly the Nubia Z11 (model number NX531J). There were a few things that were not there since our original specifications post. ...

Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has listings up for two variants of the vivo X7, giving us more of an idea of what it has to offer in hardware. Most of the X7's internals were pretty much spoiled from the getgo by vivo while the X7 Plus — or, more correctly, a facsimile of it — got teased in visuals. But beyond the basics, what more can we pull out of TENAA? Well, for one thing, the 5.2-inch full HD display is made out of OLEDs. The 16-megapixel selfie camera will get paired with a 13-megapixel one. Android 5.1 will come standard on the device as well as the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ...

Biting your nails for the Nexus launch this quarter? We're creeping up on it ever so slowly and yet, leaks have been all about who's making it, who else's making it and how many they're going to make. HTC is said to be in charge of two projects — "Marlin" and "Sailfish" — and it seems that Android Police is 80 percent confident that what it's hearing about the Sailfish device (not to be confused with Jolla's Sailfish OS) is accurate. So what's the payload here? A yet-to-be-known quad-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2GHz paired with 4GB of RAM to power on a five-inch, full HD ...

The OnePlus 3 might've represented a coming of age for the startup behind it, but with its past marketing material — telling consumers to "Never Settle" and buy their "Flagship Killers" — seemingly haunting what could be considered as an overspecced phone by default, OnePlus certainly has a challenge in telling people that it either has either narrowed down or completely shifted its target demographics for its products. There's one thing, though, that Carl Pei cannot forgive. [OnePlus] needed to cut somewhere and since they managed to get Samsung panels on discount it's not that ...

There are three Nubia Z11 variants we know of and there could soon be a forth. It depends on whether or not it gets announced on June 28. Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has this interesting take on a device that has been iterated on over and over again. The major spec here is the 4.9Ah battery on this thing. It keeps thickness to a respectable 8.95mm, but includes some hardware compromise to keep it from flagship status. The octa-core 1.95GHz chipset doesn't offer much of a tell of what it could be, but it gets 3GB of RAM for backup. The LCD keeps to 5.5 inches at full HD. Both cameras on ...

All screen, no phone? Well, that's a monitor. But if you're looking for something mobile that does away with as much bezel as possible, we might be coming in close on the Nubia Z11 Max, a phone that didn't get released with its Mini sibling last month. The ZTE subsidiary's senior vice president Ni Fei posted a big fat teaser on Weibo today touting that the phone will be arriving with an 83.27 percent screen-to-body ratio. Not too bad for Nubia — its Z9 phone was pretty comparable. Pictures from Chinese regulatory agency TENAA show the phone off in more detail with a fingerprint sensor ...

After several iterations of last year's Desire 626, HTC has decided to finally give a full update to the series. While new and more impressive specs are appreciated, we're left confused as to what the Desire 628 has to do with the Desire 630 we learned about at MWC. Twitter leaker The Malignant has posted some specs of the 628 with some familiar looking skeumorphs. #HTC DESIRE 628 5'' 720p, MTK6753 1.3GHz, 3GB RAM/32 GB ROM (+SD), 2200 mAH, R 13 mpx f/2.0 BSI, F 5 mpx, Dual-SIM pic.twitter.com/OZVhVypHVg — The Malignant (@the_malignant) May 8, 2016 If anything, the Desire 628 looks ...

Honor and its parent company Huawei are keeping up the counter this season with the former bringing down the price on some hardcore mobile hardware. Take the Huawei GX8 and the Honor 5X — both pretty much the same phone, but the GX8 cost $150 more than the 5X. So, hot off the heels of the Huawei P9's launch with its dual-camera module, we're looking forward to the Honor V8 and its own identical 12-megapixel dual-camera system. We're not sure where the name gets off being of LG's ilk. But we do have some road narrowing to do before the May 10 launch date. The display will come up to 5.5 ...

Following last year's success of the Nexus 6P, Huawei's a brand a lot more smartphone shoppers have started paying attention to. And for 2016, the manufacturer seems plenty up to the task of delivering some hardware worthy of our attention, most recently with today's launch of the P9 and P9 Plus. In a world where rumors of a dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus suggest that only the larger of Apple's next flagships will end up with an extra shooter, it's refreshing to see that Huawei's making no such distinction here: you can choose the smaller, more affordable P9 or the larger, somewhat more premium ...

Ask, and ye shall receive; ever since Apple pushed its smartphone lineup into larger new territory with the iPhone 6, a certain subset of users has been clamoring for the return of a new four-inch option. And while the last couple years brought us nothing but more 4.7 and 5.5-inch models, hope persisted that one day Apple might deliver another handset that would combine cutting edge specs with a petite, pocket-friendly body. But to hear the majority of rumors as of just a few months ago, would the iPhone's return to the four-inch space see it compromise on specs? Would Apple cripple the ...

We introduced you to the NuAns Neo at CES 2016. It's a Windows 10 Mobile phone that sports Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 system-on-a-chip and is able to run Continuum, Microsoft's protocol for extending a phone's horsepower onto a desktop space.
