HTC defines itself with the lines it draws from smartphones to smartwear. But it hasn't been filling in those lines with cash money for awhile. As the company continues to plot its course away from the rut that was the One M9, it decides to do so by adding zeal to the Desire series — once remarkable, recently less so. Maybe the Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle can shake things up. You may surmise some of the traits on these two mid-rangers come out of the HTC 10, a phone that received critical acclaim, but has battled market tailwinds. Features like 24-bit audio playback plus, in ...

We're only a day out from the virtual launch event that will usher in the HTC Desire 10 in two forms: the Lifestyle and the Pro. The Desire 10 Lifestyle has previously been rumored to be a pretty device with pale specs, though we never really got enough of a picture to let our opinions go full tilt. But Roland Quandt of WinFuture has brought us a fuller picture of the Lifestyle and, from how his list goes, it sounds like a pretty firm mid-ranger. We already know plenty about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but we didn't get any raw numbers about what was revving at the heart of the new devices. The most important number that people were aiming for was the current rating of the batteries, rumored to be at all-time highs for the iPhone line. Well, it only took a trip to Chinese regulatory agency TENAA to sort things out. Entries for the A1660 (iPhone 7) and A1661 (iPhone 7 Plus) have popped up, revealing that the apparently dual-core Apple A10 Fusion chipset can max output at 2.3GHz — fun fact: there are four cores on the A10 ...

If you trawl around YouTube enough for reviews and comparisons of tech products, you'll no doubt find those text-only videos that just pit two devices and their specs, item by item by item. Pretty monotonous, inn'it? Well, some of the latest rumors on Huawei's wintertime flagship being passed around in the Chinese tech media — and, thusly, us at Pocketnow — seem to trace back to a generic text-only video made by "CanerS Tech" on YouTube, a channel exclusively devoted to such videos about smartphone specs (speculative or official) like the Honor 8 or a concept Galaxy S9, to give you a ...

Chinese synthetic benchmarking firm, AnTuTu, claims to have caught wind of LeEco's first Snapdragon 821 smartphone, if not one of the first... well, as opposed to all those other times when teasers got screwy and numbers were more fuzzy. The LeEco Pro 3 scores a healthy 163,546 points on the composite of tests that AnTuTu offers. The company also claims that the device is using the fabled Snapdragon 821 chipset with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The selfie camera is said to be rated at 8 megapixels of resolution while the rear one is rated at 16 megapixels. Other rumors, as compiled ...

Okay, so Huawei is doing the Nexus again. We've been told that before and have been loathe to believe it given that the rumor pile stuck HTC with the two-phone Pixel job. But Huawei still had a trademark on the "7P," so, even if there was no fire, the smoke's still up. And with Evan Blass passing along the idea of a Google-branded tablet in 2016, we might as well start talking specs, if only to get an idea of what we're dealing with. Huawei Blog out of Germany has compiled some figures from its sources in China and the very blurry, very doubtful picture we have so far seems plain and ...

With the iPhone 7 event over and all the nitty gritty details splayed out on Apple's site, we should probably get to talking about them. This year's devices have introduced plenty of single-aspect enhancements that are pertinent and important as to describe what these smartphones are, so if you want to take a look at our earlier coverage for a deeper dive into those things, go ahead. But you came here for the figures. Here they are: [table] Component,iPhone 7,iPhone 7 Plus Screen size,4.7 inches,5.5 inches Screen type,LCD,LCD Resolution,1334 x 750,1920 x 1080 Pixel density,326 ppi,401 ppi ...

First with Android Nougat out of the box. A loud and clean Quad DAC system. Wide-angle cameras in front and on back. Multi-screen multi-tasking. Lenovo took the chance today to launch the Moto Z and Moto Z Play in China. It was a pretty big event with strobe lights and the usual larger-than-life screens to impress the tech press. It also took the time to compare both devices with some competing devices. Which ones? Weibo's Reviewer_Xiaokang reports those were the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Yes, really. And you can see the numbers right on your screen. Lenovo is being a bit cheeky with its specs as it is counting in all the potential maximums as could be provided with the existing Moto Mod ecosystem. [table] ...

We didn't know what kind of engine that the Alcatel Vision all-in-one VR headset was running on when TCL debuted it at IFA 2016. It was an octa-core chipset — obviously not a quad-core Snapdragon 820 — that didn't have a name to it. Well, Samsung has come out and said it all. The Vision runs on its workhorse Exynos 7420 chipset. Introducing VISION, the Exynos-powered stylish all-in-one VR device from @Alcatelmobile pic.twitter.com/xocVKZ8dfl — Samsung Exynos (@SamsungExynos) September 5, 2016 Somewhat ironic to see Samsung proudly boasting about Alcatel's headset when its own ...

Chinese telecommunications firm TP-Link jumpstarted its smartphone brand, created last year, with a couple of unoffensive smartphones at IFA Berlin. The Neffos X1 and X1 Max have come out to play and, like everyone else, they've come in the form of subtly-curved, tapered-thin, all-metal beasts. Slim 0.6mm bezels frame the 2.5D glass on top of it, adding up to a 76 percent screen-to-body ratio. Both devices have back-mounted fingerprint sensors for 0.2-second unlocks. The Neffos phones are pretty middling for a debutante at the world's weirdest technology trade show, but we'll give you ...

Tomorrow is the day when we'll get to figure out what makes the LG V20 tick. Sure, Android 7.0 Nougat, of course, but what's the silicon inside of it? Are there any numbers we could pull up? What kind of beast is this multimedia monster supposed to be? Well, one Weibo user is giving us an idea with a simple post: a 5.7-inch quad HD panel with an indeterminably-sized Second Screen, a Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM, a 4Ah battery, dual 16-megapixel cameras on the rear, ESS Technology's 32-bit Quad DAC system, a fingerprint scanner on the back. Given that the V10 also had a 5.7-inch quad HD ...

Let's take a look at the other side of Motorola, also known as Lenovo, for just one second. Lest we forget that this Chinese company has its own smartphone operations that have never quite jived with its subsidiary's. It has two lines of smartphones with another about to take off at Lowe's hardware stores. One of the more conventional, mid-range series we're talking about, though, is the K-series and IFA 2016 saw the debut of three new K6 phones — the regular K6, the K6 Power and the K6 Note. All three feature the same and all-new Snapdragon 430 chipset from Qualcomm, made from eight ...

One HTC-made "Nexus" device, codenamed "Marlin" and perhaps to be brought to market as the "Pixel XL," may use an entirely new mobile camera sensor from Sony. @LlabTooFeR, the source of several previous leaks on HTC, has tweeted out some supposed camera information for the Pixel XL. HTC Nexus (M1) = Marlin = Pixel XL will be featured with Sony IMX378 (12mp) main camera and IMX179 (8mp) front camera. — LlabTooFeR (@LlabTooFeR) September 2, 2016 Sony has not put out any information about the IMX378, but we do know that the IMX179 is a 1/3.2-inch sensor with an effective resolution of 8 ...

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 was publicized several weeks ago as a reasonable (if only small) improvement above the meaty main train of the Snapdragon 820. Seriously, a 10 percent jump in speed? That's it? Well, Qualcomm is putting a bit more spin to its promoting game for the 821. It has expanded that 10 percent improvement figure over to faster boots, faster app launches and... well, not "smoother, more responsive user interactions," but all that stuff about speed? 10 percent speedier. There's also been a 5 percent jump in the speed of the Adreno 530 GPU and a 5 percent savings in power. ...

Lenovo has a few separate products that are also getting their play before IFA today. That includes what the company claims as the thinnest convertible tablet running the latest Intel Core i processors and a simple Android tablet with killer media specs and a battery to last. But both the Yoga 910 and Yoga Tab 3 Plus, though, are said to get screens right. The Windows 10-running Yoga 910 is a 13.9-inch convertible that has a full HD IPS screen (or 4K if you can will it so) showing off the full sRGB gamut with only a 5mm bezel around the edges. A well-known and fairly reliable Weibo tech leaker has posted a list of potential specs for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. With the dogpile of previous rumors factored into account, we now have a more complete look at what will change and what will not from the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. To the iPhone 7 first: it will be keeping the 4.7-inch screen size that's been inherited since the iPhone 6 while also keeping the 1334 x 750 resolution. The battery crops up to 1,960mAh, the most potential it has ever had. That should power the TSMC-made A10 processor, made on a 16nm FinFET process, ...

There's another Snapdragon 820 device from HTC just beginning to make the rounds on GFXBench. We already think that the Nexus devices will get Android 7.1 before they launch, though. So, what's this thing with Android 6.0.1? Perhaps the Desire 10 Pro? It seems like it. It  has all the typical trimmings: 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 12-megapixel camera on the back with a 5-megapixel front facer. But is that quad HD screen really at 5.1 inches? The Desire 10 Lifestyle has been rumored to receive a 5.5-inch 720p panel. Maybe the Pro version will be more faithful to the OG 10? One thing ...

To be honest, the Axon Max that ZTE debuted for its domestic audience last year didn't look to be a welcome addition. Sure, the company had some aesthetics going on and a large screen for the people who prefer them. The Snapdragon 617 inside of it was somewhat weak, though. Well, good news and bad news — GFXBench has listed a device that looks to be the next version of the ZTE Axon Max. There are trade-offs to be made around the specs, though. For one, we're keeping the six-inch, full HD screen from last year. We do get an upgrade to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with eight Cortex-A53 ...

A Weibo leaker claims to have some another smartphone metal shell in their hands, this one not being the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In fact, we can be thankful that it's not a working prototype at this point. These pictures show us what the back side of the Huawei Mate 9 may look like. As the Mate series has gone on, we've found this device to be an evolutionary result in design, though the orientation of what may be a dual-camera unit differs from the Huawei P9's setup. We don't know if one will sensor will shoot in color and the other in monochrome as the P9 did. The flanking of what we ...

With T-Mobile letting the HTC 10 go from its stores quick, the Taiwanese manufacturer might have to rely on a mid-range phone to bring the money line just a bit higher. Perhaps a mid-range phone or two. VentureBeat's Evan Blass is reporting that HTC is working on a Desire 10 Lifestyle as well as a Desire 10 Pro. A source has disclosed specifications for the Lifestyle variant — a moniker that was associated with a spec downgrade on the HTC 10 Lifestyle. The display will span 5.5 inches at a 720p resolution and it will show off whatever Android Marshmallow has in store. An unknown ...

Huawei was not done when it released the P9 earlier this year. Supposedly, it still has plans for a Mate S sequel, a "Nexus" 7P and a Mate 9, too. All that pressure has us wondering more and more about this GFXBench log that we've picked up, thanks to Telefoonabonnement. The specs are pretty ordinary for a Huawei Mate phone: a nearly-six-inch full HD screen with a HiSilicon Kirin chipset of some sort, — GFXBench was only able to detect a set of Cortex-A53 cores — perhaps either a tweaked Kirin 955 or an all-new 960. There may be 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage along with a ...

Meizu has another phone planned. No, it's not going to be a PRO, it's not going to be an MX, but rather, it's this "E" phone. What's a new letter to us?
