I know what you're thinking. And before you get all out of sorts, don't worry: our regular reviews aren't going anywhere. We're going to continue bringing you the excellent long-form written reviews and in-depth video coverage you've come to expect, backed up by the regular podcast, reader hangout, and editorial roundtable events we've always offered. None of that's going away, so fret not! But there are folks out there who don't have the time for a ten-minute video or a 3,000-word review, and they certainly don't have an hour to absorb a meandering podcast (no matter how many awards ...

The end of the year in tech is already dominated by lists - best of, worst of, top 5, bottom 50 - you get the picture. So rather than foist another array of numeric bullet points upon you on our last podcast of the year, we've decided to dedicate this show to you, the listener ... and more specifically, to those of you who've written to us. That's right - just like we did back in the summer, for the last show of 2013 we're focusing entirely on listener mail on this, episode 076 of the Pocketnow Weekly. The backed-up emails in our inbox span the full array of tech topics, ranging from ...

For all its limitations, Instagram appears poised to remain an unstoppable force in social media. As of last month, the Facebook-owned service boasts over 16 billion photos shared, a brand new video-sharing feature that's spanking the competition, and over 130 million monthly active users. Well, make that 130 million and one. Because we've just joined the Instagram universe under the venerable (if predictable) title: "Pocketnow." Now, many Pocketnow team members also have personal Instagram accounts which many of you already follow - and we thank you for that. But following those, you've ...

"Making your way in the world today takes everything you got," a famous singer once crooned. "Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot." There's more to the song, but the meat of the story is that "sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name." And in this case, it's not a Boston-area bar run by a washed-up Red Sox pitcher; it's an internet forum run by a team of writers at the top of their game, and (soon to be) populated by some of the smartest, hippest, coolest readers in mobile technology. In case you missed the blatant appeal to your egos, that's you! ...

Everything we do here at Pocketnow is for you: our readers, our viewers, our listeners, our fans and our biggest critics. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you, and it is all of you who made this happen: I'm delighted to announce that Pocketnow has reached 300,000 YouTube subscribers! We like doing videos, we know how to do videos, and boy, we make a lot of videos! Over 3,000, to be more specific, as we've passed that milestone too. However, the most important one of all is that we now have 300,000 YouTube subscribers. It was four months ago, almost to day, when we were happy to count ...

Cats and kittens are very popular on the internet. Many have gone on to create their own memes and star in YouTube videos that have garnered millions and millions of views. Today we’re proud to announce an expansion and rebranding of our site in order to tap into this huge market that we’ve been ignoring. Everyone likes smartphones and mobile technology. Everyone likes cats. Over the past few months we've been doing extensive research involving cats and smartphones. Cats practically own the internet.  It makes perfect sense to bring the two together and create a site that offers the ...

Something funny happened a few months back. It was June 27, the day of the Nexus 7 announcement, and as usual, we were churning out a boatload of content. In addition to the usual news posts, editorials, and a pretty quick unboxing, something special showed up on the Pocketnow home page. It was a post by our own editor-in-chief, Brandon Miniman, with an unusual headline. Instead of the usual tease, question, or open-ended expression, this headline featured two complete sentences, openly declaring almost the entire contents of the story right on the front page. It read: The Nexus 7 Tablet ...

Last Thursday we kicked off one of our most beloved projects: the Pocketnow Live show. We consider it close to our hearts because it is a feature which is about You, our reader. It requires You to be here with us in a virtual place where you can interact with our editors, join us just to say "hi" or have a casual conversation about anything, really. We have ran into some technical difficulties because of which unfortunately this week's episode will have to be cancelled. We've been working hard, and still are, to solve all issues, and to get Live back on air as soon as possible! We've ...

Our team is in Las Vegas, as usual, every year. Brandon Miniman, Jaime Rivera, and Michael Fisher will be responsible for on-site coverage, meaning 30, maybe even 40 videos from CES. Make sure to connect with Pocketnow to ensure you're on top of everything that happens. We've ...
