The HTC Sensation 4G -- the T-Mobile carrier variant of the HTC Sensation formerly known as the HTC Pyramid -- might be half a star behind the Samsung Galaxy S II but it definitely is a solid Android smartphone, as HTC's non-3D current flagship handset. The Taiwanese manufacturer is pushing the T-Mobile Sensation 4G via its Marketing department with a 30 second ad that shows off both the smartphone itself as well as its main functionalities. We're sure there's nothing new to most of you out there but the ad, as with other HTC commercials, is definitely a great one. Will you get the ...

We've been getting a lot of requests for a comparison between the Galaxy S 2 (review) and the HTC Sensation, and here it is! Both of these devices represent the cutting edge for smartphones: they have plenty of RAM, dual-core CPUs, special screens, and custom interfaces that are well designed. In terms of pricing and availability, the Sensation is coming to the US as the T-Mobile Sensation 4G and will sell for around $199, but right now you can import one for about $750. The Galaxy S 2 has yet to be announced for the US, but we think it's coming to AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon later this ...

Swype has become one of the most popular third-party keyboards because, with some practice, it can dramatically improve your speed of text entry on a mobile device. So it's no wonder that HTC now has a similar product, which they call Trace, that is now shipping on the HTC Sensation 4G. Trace integrates with the already-great HTC keyboard, but it doesn't work as well as Swype, as you'll see in this video. It seems to be less accurate, and sometimes the keyboard confuses a tap and hold of a letter (to get foreign characters) with a swiping gesture.

It's not the first time a retailer has jumped the gun on smartphone sales, and it won't be the last, but it doesn't always involve an eagerly-awaited model like this: some Walmart stores are apparently selling the HTC Sensation 4G already, in advance of its announced retail debut. T-Mobile plans to start selling the Sensation 4G at its stores next week, on June 15. It had also announced that some Walmart stores would begin selling the smartphone on June 12, but it looks like they couldn't even wait that long. Reports from users in an XDA-Developers forum thread tell tales of Walmarts all ...

The HTC Sensation 4G, the carrier variant of the HTC Sensation, T-Mobile announced back in April got a signed bootloader which speaks of difficult ROM development for the smartphone. Then came HTC saying they are reviewing their bootloader policy after which Peter Chou himself announced the Taiwanese company will no longer lock its smartphones' bootloaders. Though the statement refers to the future, HTC support people are responding emails about Sensation 4G bootloader inquiries: "We are currently developing new bootloader unlocked software for your phone. The HTC Sensation is a very big deal for HTC, and for smartphone enthusiasts. It represents HTC's flagship for 2011, and with it comes several firsts. It's the first shipping HTC phone to pack a dual-core CPU, what's more, it's the official debut of Qualcomm's dual-core Snapdragon CPU, which clocks at 1.2GHz, just like the Exynos chip found on the Samsung Galaxy S 2. It's also HTC's first phone to go beyond WVGA 800x480 resolution; the Sensation has a qHD display, making for 960x540 pixels. The Sensation is coming to T-Mobile later in June as the Sensation 4G, and we'll be seeing a flavor ...

If you're interested what the HTC Sensation 4G will cost on T-Mobile without a contract -- it will go for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan -- Magenta has got you covered. The carrier just tweeted the above, letting everyone know that "the retail price (non-contract) for the HTC Sensation 4G will be $549.99 + applicable tax". That's $350 more than what it costs with a two-year agreement but that's not too much if you're in for the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch qHD display, eight-megapixel ...

Ever since its launch back in the middle of April, many are looking forward to the HTC-made T-Mobile Sensation 4G which should be available, according to rumors, on June 8. Magenta is trying to maintain the momentum and puts the Sensation 4G in a comparison with other smartphones, T-Mobile or other. As you can see in the slide, qHD aside, the Sensation 4G and the LG-made T-Mobile G2x feature the same characteristic. But of course, qHD resolution is one of the selling points of the ex-Pyramid smartphone. Compared to the Galaxy S 4G, the Sensation 4G is superior by an additional core in its ...

HTC has a long history of signing and locking it's bootloaders, and this latest release is really just status quo, with all of their previous smartphones dating back to Windows Mobile having a locked bootloader as well. In light of recent statements and action by Motorola and Sony Ericsson however, things look a little different in respect to the competition this time around. HTC does not offer an unlocking service, nor has made any announcements of intentions to do so, leaving the hardcore developer community un-supported. Fortunately for HTC owners, there are frequent leaks of early ...
